Wasabi Japanese Restaurant

Horrible restaurant. For being such a small family owned business you would think the owners would take care of their customers. I went in with my children to get some rolls to go , the owner was so rude when I tried to explain I wanted food to go. She was very dismissive and gave me such a condescending way I was taken back and confused. Then two days later I went in with my husband and daughter who really wanted to try the food from there. And same experience but this time it was the older man (owner) he literally screamed for us to close the door and said if we had no reservations they couldn't serve us. Which is understandable, but it's the way it was delivered. So owners if you are reading this, shove your wasabi and rolls up your a$$! and FYI this is how you lose customers QUICK. Never again.

JULY 2024 -- SKIP THIS JOINT. First off, the young waitress was nice and apologetic for keeping us waiting. That's fine, we can understand. She's the only one working on a Friday night. 5 stars for her. Two stars for the business because the $15 special roll isn't special at all. You've seen pictures posted here. I expected more from the Japanese owners! Very, very disappointed. In CA, a $15 special roll is what you get, even with 6 pieces. Each roll is big - about 1.5 to 2 inches circumference and packed. In Japan, the rolls are decent and made with care. Sadly, this business is unclaimed, and so they will not see the reviews and do better. So, with that, pick something else.

Feb 9, 2023Came in for 630p reservation. The waitress was clueless, first off. We ordered fried pork dumplings (they had no vegetables in them) the steamed crab dumpling had no veggies. the egg roll was ok, they gave us this weird pinkish red jelly like stuff with it; it was ok but I don't know what it was. We ordered a special order sushi roll-snow crab and shrimp tempura no veggies- it took 30 minutes to get because the waitress wrote it down wrong. the miso soup was too salty and didn't taste like it was dashi stock nor did it have any green veggies in it. the California rolls tasted like grocery store kind we get back in Texas. (did I fail to mention that) And last but not least, the chicken teriyaki, we ordered 3...BIG MISTAKE. the chicken was rubbery (and THATS never a good sign) the sauce was sweet-like but not with honey or brown sugar. After 3 bites it was over. I don't know where this dude gets his chicken or he just doesn't know how to cook it. In Texas we have MANY Asian restaurants and WE KNOW the goodness that is the FLAVORS involved in cooking this kind of food. It's all about the flavor, the freshness. This place is a far cry from traditional Japanese food. And, I don't know if it's just Colorado NOT KNOWING great Japanese flavors and ingredients or just the people visiting Colorado DON'T KNOW but, to have anything above 2 stars for this eatery is ridiculous. (no RR inside for customers)DO NOT RECOMMEND IT

The service was fantastic Olivia was awesome! The sushi was phenomenal. Way better than I expected out of a mountain town in a landlocked state! This will be a go to every time I come back to Breck! The wasabi is also some of the best wasabi I've had anywhere!

I love the super chill atmosphere at Wasabi Been several times now and Jess the server is so darn sweet and friendly. Last night we scored a walk in and sat down to my favorite, the tuna carpaccio. This is nothing normal. The owner takes it to the next level Beef curry was very authentic Japanese style. Nice warm sake to wash it all down

Came here twice during our trip cuz we just can't get enough. We love sushi and this place is the bomb!! We only got sushi rolls both times but the table next to us with some sweet older men got the dinner plates and they were so happy too! Highly recommend the Ninja roll. Which is chefs choice. It was like a wonton in a roll. So good!!

This is quite possibly the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. It is extremely authentic. I ordered the pork gyoza and it was so good that I ordered two more trays of it. They were also super understanding and helpful of my brother's food allergy. The service was amazing, fast, and very kind. The restaurant is owned by a lovely Japanese couple. The ambiance is lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the Breckenridge area.

There are many mixed reviews about this restaurant. Save your money and go elsewhere. The sushi isn't good at all, the rice is literally mushy. I am not an expert, but I know how to roll sushi and I could have done a better job. There was Saran Wrap remnant on one of our sushi rolls when we got it. The sashimi was cut in the wrong direction. It is a mom and pop place.. I am all about supporting local, but they need to up their game here. Any modification we wanted to make to a roll had to get approved by the chef. The server had to ask each time we wanted to change something. It's a small restaurant with probably 6 or 7 tables. The only reason we ate here was because we were able to get a table and other places were jammed. Like I said, save your money and go somewhere else.

We lived in Japan for 5 years and Wasabi does excellent, authentic Japanese 'pub' food, as good as any we had in Japan, and a whole lot cheaper.Save yourself a long flight to Japan by eating at Wasabi.

I'm so disappointed to write this review because I love to support small, family owned spots. But this one was lacking in every aspect. Our server on Thursday night was grumpy and downright rude. We mentioned we would start with 1 appetizer and order more if needed to which he said no, they require everything ordered at once. He mentioned they'd be backed up with orders despite there only being 5 tables seated in the restaurant. He was overwhelmed and we had to flag him down multiple times for water refills, cocktail refills, and to clear our empty plates because we ran out of room on the table. The ambiance was terrible with the table next to ours piled with old boxes. The sushi was mediocre and overall, I'd skip this spot if you're looking for sushi in Breck.
