My husband and I have moved to the district, and we have had a hard time adjusting to no school busses even though they tell you there are busses. Our kids are 2-3 minutes late here and there, so the Deen sets up an appointment about my son's tardiness at 7:00am. I'm there on time and she happens to be late but I wait because I know this is very important and after 10 minutes she comes out to get me and my kids. She proceeds to tell me this paperwork is all for court and she has to have the right documents and all focused on getting my son and me in some legal situation all the while smiling and singling out my son on his birthday. She is advising him on how bad he is doing and then says oh while doing paperwork I realized it's your birthday. This lady does not care about the students there at all! The goal should be teaching children, being an advocate herself, and a little ounce of emotional intelligence would be great! She has none! They have no busses they say there is a waiting list, but there is not! They are taking away the student drop off in the front after break and are asking for more money. I'd give the vote but not with a leader like that! She was laughing and giggling when my student used to be a high performer. You would think she would want to work with kids and have them successful, but NOPE! Sad, I'm definitely a disappointed parent.

On my first day at a new school moving there from California, I sign up for ap european history, pre ap English 2, geomentry, chemistry, French 2, music theory and concert band. This school is so terriable! The counseling then put me in all regular classes. Can you believe this? Now I might be stuck in it for a whole year when I worked hard to be in ap at my old school and took all honors classes at my old school. The teachers are not welcoming and most can't even teach! The students are not nice to one another. Whatever you do don't send your kids here. Go to district 20 from my experience. Next year I'm going to the other school district.

I've contacted staff about different issues in the past & they accommodated the issues. Lately they do not care about ANYTHING I have brought to their attention. I have contacted the so called principal Rebecca Sims & she has only given me a run around & just doesn't care about the issues I have brought up. I have had three kids go through Vista & the past year and this year have been the worst in the history of Vista Ridge High School. Sadly I'm not a fan of changing my child's school in the middle of high school or we would definitely go to a better now organized school.

I love this school, the staff is so understanding, there are clubs for all people and the sports are amazing, it's probably the best school in the district in my opinion because all the students I have met are so respectful and the teachers work hard to know their students!

Let me just start by saying that my experience in D49 has been... interesting. I am now a sophomore in college and I went to school at D49 from the first grade until I graduated high school. First, many of the administrators at Vista Ridge do not care. The principal does not know what he is doing and was overheard a few times by my mother at basketball games talking about how he enjoys partying and gambling in Cripple Creek. Hmmmmmm, what a good role model! This other lady (who I believe is named Ms. Shone) used to embarrass me in front of my entire class saying that I was breaking the dress code when many other students were wearing similar things. She would only talk to me about it and not the other students. I don't even know what this lady's job title is. I think she is just payed to walk around all day and yell at students. Also, they say that the district is low on money even though all the administrators own the latest technology including iPads, yet the school doesn't even own math books because there is "not enough money". From the bomb threats to the poisoned ranch dressing at lunch (yes, a student spiked the ranch with visene one day), going to school every day was a whole new experience, and not necessarily in a good way. However, with all that being said, I did have good experiences with many of my teachers. But I am still thankful every day to be out of this school system. It really lacks good leadership.

Unethical staff and a school cop that acts militant. The principal lacks leadership skills and common sense. Only a handful of teachers are great. The school policeman is pompous and is not kid friendly. He spends his time looking to handout as many traffic tickets as he can to parents on the street in front of the school. The school curriculum is terrible and doesn't come close to the many class choices other districts offer. The teachers didn't know how to teach the subjects and winged it throughout the school year. Mrs. Zdancko, the dance team coach did not care about her team last year and abruptly quit on the team right before the last few games of the year, and Mr. Baldwin the athletic director, is as unethical as they come as well as the principal. Dance tryouts were held at the end of last year (for this year's team) by students and a parent, Nini, without the school or athletic director knowing. Nini the parent/judge brought her daughter in the last day of tryouts and her daughter made the team unfairly. It was brought to the attention of athletic director and he let the team stay intact, hired Nini the cheater parent last year after tryouts, and told all of them to keep it quiet over the summer. It was brought to the D49 CEO's attention and yet nothing was done about it....the school kept the same dance coach (Nini) which is a disgraceful example of a leader, and dance tryouts were not re-held to make it fair for all students to become captains and dance team members. The counseling staff does not care about the kids or their schedules, and I could not get one of them to call me back until I threatened to call the administration building. This school is a waste of my tax dollars and is disappointing. I have moved my child to District 20 which also doesn't have nearly the fees that D49 charges.
