We visited Salida for the last weekend in July, to check it plus ride the Royal Gorge train nearby. What a beautiful fun town, surrounded by mountains and the Arkansas river gushing through alongside the downtown and their big beautiful (but NOT dog friendly!!!) park.We ended up at the Victoria more than once, afternoons and evening in our wanderings and enjoyed it very much. It's big roomy bar with decent tap beer selection and the bartenders were just fine. Plus they have shuffleboard!!That's all I know, but I'd go back.

Girls get served weak drinks! I'm a local, ordered 2 Jameson gingers and watched the owner give me ginger with literally a splash of alcohol. My guy ordered and got a normal drink. I should've called her out, but instead - I'll continue to avoid this dump.

As my hubby, our friend and I strolled along F Street, I wondered if I had built "the Vic", as it's called by the locals, up too much. I mean my last visit WAS 10 years ago. We paid our $3 cover and slid past a couple of locals that clearly had not showered in a few days. (So far I'm not doing so hot.)But I was soon redeemed. We grabbed a couple of super strong drinks from the bartender (Apparently "tall" at the Vic means "more alcohol in a taller glass".) and hit the shuffleboard table, which luckily was downwind of said locals. After a few cocktails and games of shuffleboard a bluegrass, honky tonk band hit the stage. This was the perfect cap to the evening. We danced around while we sailed with the Captain, challenged each other and the locals to a shuffleboard tourney and had a grand ol' time. (Okay so technically I danced, sailed and challenged the locals to shuffleboard. But the guys were on board. Either that or they were silently egging me on. At least that's the story I'm going with.)The Vic is full of charm and unexpected coolness. You get the feeling that anything goes and everyone ends up friends by the end of the night...and I love that. I hope it doesn't take me another 10 years to visit the Vic again. It's too great of a place to be away from for that long.

Love this dive bar with the free shuffle board. When we were there, the bar featured not one but two late afternoon drunks. THAT's A BONUS!But it was the female bar tender from Portland who made us feel like a million dollars as we laughed and joked and drank our beers before dinner. Nice big long bar and lots of fun locals.

What a great place! Loved the bar and the ambiance despite that the place was obviously a local hangout with only one gal working the bar. She however, made a great margarita (or two) and we enjoyed the visit. John Quincy

Friendly environment at first- just don't request music they aren't in to. (Not into country) Very certain that the small town tavern isn't welcoming to outsiders unless you make a reservation. We were welcomed at first, and then accused of being with another group of people who they didn't like and asked not to come back? I was with a larger party for the evening and the amount of drama that was brought in when all I was looking for was a good time, is more work than it's worth. From a small town myself, run my own business and would never imagine treating customers this way. Very cool building, a lot of history and potential for sure!

Gross. Dirty. Interesting crowd. Rude wait staff. The only plus to this bar is that they have shuffleboard. We ordered two pitchers and the bartender charged us $40. We payed reluctantly unsure about the high amount. After talking amongst our table we decided to question the bartender about the cost again. Where she apologized and said she had charged us for an extra pitcher. It was clearly a case of the bartender trying the make a quick $15 bucks. Due to the fact that she poured two pitchers of Coors light. $20 apiece. I think not. This place had the strangest people inside as well. Which who knows? That may just be Salida. But needless to say I could have done without this experience and I hope to never return.

A true piece of Americana. This place is filled with character. There is a really, really cool, old western feel to the bar. Tons of history and very good live music! Even some rumors that the upstairs may be haunted...This is the real deal, not TGI Fridays, thank heavens. A lot of great beer on tap, free peanuts, shuffleboard and incredible location in the heart of beautiful, downtown Salida. It doesn't get much better.

First of all, let me say that these bad reviews are so accurate! Some of the Bartenders there are super sweet and awesome but there are a handful that are just absolutely awFul. The crowd there can be unwElcoming and annoying as shit as well. Idk I'd reCcomend bensons or boathouse to anyone who asks.
