This is the main library for Colorado College. As a quiet place to study, this may be the place for you on occasion, if you have your headsets. There are 4 floors and two main study wings in the building, The Learning Commons, for interactive learning (ie. talking) and the "quieter" wing with tables, study carrels and lots of space to spread out. The Learning Commons is actually my favorite place to study. It has newer furniture and overlooks one of the main lawns, so you don't feel completely cloistered. It has new track lighting and lamps that accentuate the natural light. I feel like I'm in a bastardized version of Dwell magazine. Even though it's the "talking area" of the library the only people who I've noticed talking are random jokers in the adjacent Writing Center and they usually only talk for a few minutes, then leave. The other "quieter" wing is not really quiet. The biggest drawback is the open floor plan. There are tables on the entry floor and the two floors above en-square the the open area. If someone is talking loudly, you can hear it upstairs. For some reason, it's socially acceptable to talk loudly in this library. So many times, I had to pull out my headphones to drown out random ridiculous student kvetching. It's not a bad spot if you have headsets and want to eliminate other coffeehouse/home/park distractions. You can face a wall next to a slit of a window and feel slightly less depressed about the fact that it's finally spring and you're stuck inside studying for finals. There are study carrels around the outside perimeter of the library and if you can find one far away from the tables, you are likely to find it a bit quieter for studying,So, for the hard core studiers, the question is: "Should I go here or Agia Sophia?" It's a toss up. It depends on if I have my headsets and if I feel like parking and walking for 3-5 minutes to the library or want to park in front of Agia, and order a frappe while listening to Gregorian chants. I'll do both at some point depending on my mood.

Much better Library for studying than UCCS in my opinion. Unfortunately, non-CC students can only check out 3 books at a time.
