My husband and I had an enjoyable wine tasting at the award-winning Winery at Holy Cross Abbey in early May, and recommend the experience. We both ordered a flight of sweet wines at the indoor counter -- I think they were $12 each for four 2-oz pours, and some small snacks to accompany them -- bags of mixed nuts and olives in salty brine. We relaxed at small outside tables, sharing the space with another friendly couple. (It was mid-week, close to closing time). We also browsed in the cute gift shop that has a cute selection from around the world, mostly but not all related to wines and wine-making. For any RVers out there, The Winery participates in Harvest Hosts, through reservations only. There are two flat RV sites that are sufficiently far from traffic noise, and with walking paths to stretch your legs after driving all day.

Absolutely loved the VIP experience! We were welcomed with generous board filled with crackers, cheeses, meats, almonds. Tastings of every wine offered. Hostess was knowledgeable and professional answering all of our questions. Loved the gift shop inside - so cute.

This was a nice/surprise discovery. On our way to do the Royal Gorge Train ride, I saw the winery sign on the road. Hence, after the ride, we quickly stopped by to do a little sampling of Colorado wines. The name of the winery is so fitting; it's situated right next to a church. This place really doesn't have a grandiose appearance. In a way, its existence is very humble or should I say "conspicuous" because the building looked like a cattle barn in a distant(lol!). But once you step inside the store, you'll be amazed how cute/quaint it is.The bar area where you order your flight is a good size. The menu is easy to understand. There are about six flights to choose from. I chose "Build Your Own" which is $12. Once I have picked my wines, the gentleman behind the bar started pouring my varietals. And oh boy, each pour is/was 2 oz which was very generous. So having 4 pours, that was easily more than a full glass of wine. This was way too much for me as I only needed a little bit (we had 2+ hours of driving to get back to Denver.)The varietals I picked are/were: Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, Viognier, The Theurgist (red blend) and Syra. I had a hard time ranking them because all of them were so good and I was simply impressed with them. Bottles were reasonably priced from $21 to $34.Per the gentleman at the bar, there are some grapes that they got from California but most of the wines are/were made from Colorado grown grapes in Palisade. The gift shop had so many cute items. It's like wine lovers' heaven. As long as the weather permits, you can sit outside in the deck or yard facing the grassy pasture area where cows roam around. I think they also have some food (cheese board type thing) as there were a few people who were consuming that with their wine(s).I'd love to go back here in late spring or early summer. And that time, I'll make sure to be thirsty for delicious wine.

After seeing their sign on the roadside, we made a mental note to stop in. We had a nice time and were there on a Saturday. Definitely surprised at how many folks were inside. Always a good sign. They have a cute store of sorts inside, themed with all things wine, of course. When we realized we needed to add ourselves to a waitlist for tastings, we did. Maybe adding a welcome sign with helpful tips around this process or greeting us as we came in with this information, would help others in the future. There was plenty to see and look at and we weren't challenged with time, so not jumping into the tasting line immediately was fine, in the long run. When we were called to the bar for tastings, we had our selections already picked out. As their were lots of folks waiting to get where we were, the tastings were't leisurely but not too rushed. We ordered a few glasses and took two bottle home with us. Stepping outside to see the outdoor space was also nice. And we appreciated the outdoor seating options. Cute, cute place. The tasting process is a bit hurried but a few tweaks could improve the overall experience, for sure. Overall, a nice afternoon stop.

For a winery at an Abbey, we were surprised by the surliness of the staff. It's a beautiful environment, one can roam the vineyards or sit outside enjoying wine flights. Obtaining information about the wine, the abbey, the vineyard however was not so pleasant of an experience. Remembering that friends had mentioned this place, we stopped in on the way to Salida. We did not have an appointment in advance and were told that a tour was not available. We ordered the white wine flight, $14, but when we asked for an explanation about the wines we were rebuffed. It wasn't clear which wine was which. I was disheartened that such a beautiful setting and a great location left us with a bad taste.

They had a nice variety of sweet wines. She gave us a generous pouring for our tastings. Our favorite was the Sangre de Cristo Nuvo . We liked the Riesling, as well. Beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy the Mountain View. Would definitely recommend this place!

Wr had a lovely visit! Saw this on the way to the Royal Gorge Train ride and decided to visit after. SOOOOO worth it. So enjoyed sitting on the options with a wine flight. The charcuterie board was amazing! Best I've ever had! Amazing value, as those things go. We had a ton to take home! We did a wine flight in the train. Turned out it was their wine. LOVED the riesling! On my tasting I really enjoyed the Astrologist and the Alchemist. Staff is friendly and such a lovely relaxing environment. They have gluten-free crackers for the board too!
