Salida is charming. And this pottery shop is just the kind of retail you want there to be on Main Street USA. I found pieces both unique AND utilitarian. Used this road trip stop to pick up gifts and a couple of goodies for myself.Several potters are represented. There appeared to be something for everyone. Fair prices. Good tunes on the speakers. Friendly, non-pushy staff. Curmudgeon artist at the door. Beautiful weather. Lots of foot traffic on the street. Scenery sure didn't suck and the Arkansas River just waiting to be explored.Perfect.

I parked in front of this place while grabbing a bite to eat one night. When I stepped up on the curb, I saw the magic inside. It was after hours when I poked my head inside and was fortunate enough to meet the owner and gifted artist, Mark. My daily ritual of sipping hot beverages just got better with the cute little handcrafted cup I now own. Want to go back and take a class..... Special place, special gift... Stainglass and other local artist are featured, as well

I saw a beautiful pot in the window yesterday at The Maverick Potter. This is a small town full of interesting, attractive art, bet this piece really stopped me in my tracks. I went inside, examined it and didn't find a price tag. A lovely lady came up to assist me. She was delightful, acknowledged the piece was unintentionally unpriced and then proceeded to tell me she was the potter's wife. As we spoke, she priced it to me, since he wasn't in. I told her I had to get my Significant Other before I could purchase it. As I was leaving to gather in SO, the potter came back. In front of me, she asked him to confirm her price on the pot. He told her he needed nearly 40 % more for it. He left both of us feeling very uncomfortable; needless to say, he still owns his pot (along with many more) and he clearly didn't impress me, an avid collector. I do give his wife five stars for her kindness and attention to me. She is a wonderful person. He might recognize how not to treat such a supportive partner.

This is a cool pottery shop. I'm a potter and I'm pretty particular. This guy is doing some great stuff and has invited some of his friends along who are very talented as well. I have one of his little kiln gods on my monitor (chupacabra) that I enjoy each and every day. We bought some other things for friends and will consider ordering at Christmas time too for gifts.

Mark and Suzzane do a terrific job with their gallery. Lots of artists represented. The selection is out of this world. See it to believe it.
