The Canteen Taphouse and Tavern

Very pleased to see a place on Main Street take reservations!Had dinner a few days before Christmas. I had the Honeydew burger... decent and properly done. As one should expect. My girlfriend had the Monte Cristo sandwich... it was excellent! Much better than we expected for a Saturday night. So good in fact, that we decided to return on Christmas Eve and just share a Monte Cristo.The portions are decent. The food has been wholesome, well-prepared and delicious. Dining rooms are relaxed and pleasant. The staff works hard, and I am sure they are improving.

The Canteen was sooo good. You walk in and it is just the perfect looking, laid back place where you can kick back and enjoy a beer from their impressive list of beers or even enjoy some wine...GOOD wine! That you never find at taverns like this. The service was top notch. Very welcoming and we never lacked for anything. I had the bbq brisket and it was insane. I loved the flavor. Hubby had the gumbo and CLEANED THE DISH as you can see in photos. The buffalo chicken nachos were pretty good too but I'd say try the cheese fondido. Great ambiance, nice and cozy! 10/10 would recommend!

Here's the thing, any dive bar in a ski town is 5 stars with me. We didn't even try the food, but the drinks were . Outdoor gas fireplace on a bluebird day, can't beat it!

Our third time in breck and our first time at the canteen. Fortunately for us it wasn't particularly busy so there was no wait at all. I had the Reuben and my daughter had the 'Merica cheeseburger. Her burger was prepared perfectly and paired with hand cut fries which for once in a restaurant were not over salted. I don't know where they get their pickles from but they are awesome! My Reuben wasn't the best I've ever had, but to be fair, I'm from NY so my standards are pretty high. My sandwich was flavorful but the corned beef was pretty fatty. Our server was attentive and friendly. I would come here again and since we're here for another few nights, there's a high probability we will! Pic below was what was left of my Reuben and fries. There was no chance I could finish this!

For starters the Buffalo nachos were fantastic, delicious and perfect proportions in every way. The rest of the food however did not blow me away. The margarita pizza was good as well but the tacos and the pulled pork were just okay. The blueberry moscow mule was not good either. I would probably return again if invited and just get the nachos. Service was a little slow and the ambiance is nice and cozy.

Been in Breckenridge a few days & we found some solid dining options. However, last night I was on duty to find our place, & I relied on the Yelp community and of course were steered right! This place is just off the beaten path but well worth the extra steps. Interior decor is cozy & rustic. We decided to grab a table in the bar and started with Buffalo Nachos app: They were simply amazing. Our party of 3 speculated they're potentially the best nachos ever!! I order a lot of Rubens, and me & my buddy went with those and enjoyed thoroughly. Our other got the Mac&Cheese adding Buffalo chicken and was ecstatic with his selection. The drink & wine lists have nice variety. We had been on team beer the past couple days so leaned into wine. Our first 2 bottle selections were out, but 3rd was the charm, & it worked well (... if the wine list has some length, I don't ding if a few are out). Service was good.

The Canteen has a very laid-back atmosphere. It's the perfect place to go when you just finished skiing and need a little pick-me-up to make it through the afternoon. I ordered wings with the G-DUB style sauce on the side, as well as a side of fries. The wings were tender and delicious, and the fries were hot and crispy.

Chicken Tenders and Fries -10/10Ranch - 10/10Grilled Cheese 10/10Gumbo - 1/10. Don't order this if you are from the south and are expecting real gumbo. They missed the boat on this one.
