Lovely Lake! Great for walks, biking, running, paddle boarding and fishing.Great for all ages as the difficulty level is minimal. Great for kids or someone a bit older as nothing is too steep or uneven. Beautiful views and you can walk around 3-4 miles in one direction. There are a few different places to park, depending on where it is ADA accessible. Seems most area can accommodate a stroller or wheel chairs. You cannot swim in this lake or let you dogs in the water. If you do want to paddle board or kayak you have to go to the main entrance off 100th and sims to pay and get your board sprayed down. Not too much shade so be prepared and wear a hat or sunscreen up. Overall great walk/hike! highly recommend.

Apparently this place has a negative reputation because of pollution (interesting history!) which is probably why it was completely empty when I took my dogs for a walk there one early evening. Standley Lake Park is beautiful, lush, green, and spacious. It's close to where to live, so I'll definitely be back, whether it's just to give the dogs more space to play OR to perhaps have a picnic with friends. Maybe paddleboarding?

I've only been here to Paddleboard so this review is based on that alone. It's $10 to get in if you dont have an annual pass. Once you pay, you're directed to the spray station to decontaminate your paddleboard and then you're on your merry way! This may deter some people but I like it and find that it cuts down on the number of people who want to come here. No boats or jet skis are allowed here which keeps the water pretty still on a non windy day. Be sure to wear your PFD because when that wind hits, it comes in strong and soon enough you may need to b rescued by a park ranger on their boat (guilty!) All in all, peaceful place to paddleboard with a gorgeous view of the mountains!

I hiked the Arvada side, parking at 86th & Simms which is free. Parking is locked at sunset so plan accordingly.I was here on a Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. For two hours I only saw 2 bikers, 1 runner, and 1 person walking their dog - so, pretty empty on the trails and down by the water. The views were beautiful and it was very peaceful as well. The benches aren't the greatest and some are covered in graffiti but the ones by the pavilion are fine. I didn't come here to sit so it didn't bother me. No bugs bothered me either!

The list of rules takes all the fun out of going there. $10 to put a paddle boarding in, must have name and address written on it, must stand in line to have it sprayed with some stuff?, and must enter at specific area. Dogs must wear life vest if on board with you. No swimming, no dog swimming, no floaties, no alcohol, no, no,no,no..... Sheesh! No thanks. I will be going elsewhere where I don't feel bossed around

Standley Lake is on the border between Arvada and Westminster and it has many different aspects. In the summer the entrance on 100th street is bustling with boaters, fishing, camping, and other forms of water activities. In the winter when the lake is frozen, there is still plenty to do on the 86th street entrance. Lots of hiking, walking, and dirt biking trails. Theres never a dull moment at Standley Lake Park!

The lake is beautiful. Unfortunate for it, its also Westminster drinking supply which brings over regulation and overzealous rangers. So its no longer a place to boat, ski, bbq, but at least we can still rent $50 per hour kayaks. Mike Ziegler always doing his part to enforce the rules like no other. You keep keeping-on and maintain that h20 pH balance we don't any more help at any other park.

Nice local park. Not sure if it's part of the Colorado "green space" thing or if it's run by another governmental entity. They do have some strict rules on horses and hours.

Taking my dog for a walk down by the lake....peaceful...not a soul in sight...let my dog off leash to run. Here comes a Westminster park ranger running his pickup down the refuge trails. He stops and exits to make sure I am aware of the need to have my dog on leash and educate me on the area being a wildlife refuge. My dog is a threat to wildlife but driving his vehicle all over the trails every day is not. He promised next time he sees me he will cite me. Really sad commentary about what is really important. All the terrible crap going on in this country and a park ranger has the power to stop and threaten a citizen just out with his dog in the middle of nowhere. This ranger has a power complex and I am sure it will not be long before he tries to abuse his limited "power ranger" authority and gets the city of Westminster in a lawsuit . I would take my dog to the city dog park at 100th and Simms but there is no regulation or enforcement by the city as aggressive dogs and owners are not held to any responsibility. Throw in the possibility of having your car trespassed while you are in the park makes it even less of a viable option. Bottom line....Westminster needs to get priorities set. Why pay these rangers a salary when they have no real value to return to the citizens they are sworn to serve?

I used to walk here quite often however I have moved my dog walking to Whisper Creek development becasue of snakes. The "off leash" dog park near Stanley Lake is not a choice for dog owners like myself with a rescue. I have found both Arvada and Westminster have maintance crews that use very strong chemicals and herbicides( many flags). When I walk my dog; sometimes the fumes take my breath away. Dogs and animals that are shorter than I am must breath in many toxic fumes and although the park at Whisper Creek is posted as " keep dogs on leash" many people disregard the posted signs. On my last visit, I noticed dead birds. I have also noticed "no pollinators" such as bees, moths or butterflies. This is concerning both for run off into the water that travels to Stanley Lake and people using the park and playground.
