The best nursery in town. We have been going there for years. Great selection of garden plants and flowers. Ask where the pies are located. They are delicious.

Admittedly I didn't know this location was here until I searched up Spencer's on Yelp to find the hours for the other location. Surprise! We stopped by to see if by the off chance they'd have some parsley to grow and they did! The plant is doing well after being re-potted and I'm on happy customer. The store was too cute, and they had a stand close by selling produce as well! Can't wait to come back!

Locally owned gardening center that also sells fruits and vegetables. Now is the chili season and they roast their own chilis. Palisades peaches, rocky ford cantaloupe and field grown tomatoes are some of their local produce. I believe it's family owned and I shop here as often as I can. The peaches, tomatoes and lopes are delicious.

This weekend Spencer's had a special - free tastings of mild, medium and hot roasted chili peppers. They were great! I actually went to purchase Colorado tomatoes, peaches and corn. They are all delicious! While parking can be a bit of a challenge, it's worth the effort!

Great selection and so close to downtown. I didn't know this place was here! The gal at the front desk was very helpful. I was looking for a lime tree and they had a beautiful one that even had 6 tiny limes on it for only $49.98! I spent $75 getting one shipped from Florida that promptly died, so I decided to replace it locally. SO glad I called around and found this gem! I will be back.

Ten things I've learned about shopping for produce: 1. Stuff tastes best in season. Spencer's will tell you exactly when that is. Other places will pretend those mangoes are local.2. Never buy "Colorado peaches" from anyone who doesn't offer free samples. Those are not Colorado peaches, or they'd prove it. Those are from California, or, at best, Utah. Spencer's offers samples. In fact, you can smell the peaches from the parking lot when they're in season, so those samples are like a gift from the gods. Boxes of them aren't cheap, but they're cheaper here than just about anywhere else, unless you're willing to drive up to Palisade, where quality is kind of a crapshoot and gasoline is never cheap. (You may think I take peaches too seriously. You have not tasted my cobbler.)3. "Rocky Ford Cantaloupe." Do I really need to elaborate? Spencer's doesn't lie about where the cantaloupe comes from. Smell it. It's yummy. Taste it. It won't kill you.4. Gilroy garlic is the BEST.5. OH GOD VIDALIA ONIONS. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM6. No one carries Sonora peppers. Except for Spencer's. All year.7. Bags of pinto beans without rocks are better than bags of pinto beans with lots of them. Those grocery store beans are a BAD IDEA, if you're into stuff like keeping your actual teeth. 8. Gigantic bags of pine nuts from the cooler at Spencer's are all I ever really want for Christmas or my birthday from now on, ok?9. Skip the farmer's market. Kettle korn is really only impressive that first time, and you can get apple butter at Spencer's. Where's the produce? It's on its way from California. There is one outstanding exception to this rule -- the Colorado Farm & Art Market -- but for the most part, the farmer's markets here are a waste of time that could be better spent trying to get into Spencer's parking lot. 10. Those things in the grocery store are not tomatoes. You know that, right?I feel like I can trust this place. The stuff in my garden that came from Spencer's is the only stuff that thrives year after year. The grass seed I bought there was blended just for this horrible climate, and it's been successful with practically no water. The staff has great answers to all my questions, and I have never been allowed to carry a box of produce out to my own car. If you're not looking for exemplary customer service, that's just too darn bad. You're getting it anyway.

There are very few things in life I appreciate as much as good food. I'm a true believer that good food should come from home. Just to elaborate a little further, most places you get your produce comes from several states away or even countries away. Places like Spencer's are hard to find, especially outside of Colorado. They've got tons of local produce, all marked with the region they were grown. So of course the only sell products in season, but they do sell lots of frozen products that were frozen at their peak season. I have also purchased several potted herbs from them, and their selection is truly stellar!! When you earn Spencer's 'bucks' you basically get 1/2 off your stuff (cannot be used on produce) which is great when you venture into their basement candy area. And the #1 reason to go to Spencer's is the green chiles! Fresh, different varieties from different local farms, roasted on site, or in the fall they even do events where you can get green chile quesadillas.

I bought a sprinkler here -- a rather pricey one. The oscillating mechanism was defective, so I tried to return it. I had the original packaging and the credit card I used to purchase it. Without a receipt, though, Spencer's wouldn't allow me to return it or even exchange it for a non-defective sprinkler of the same kind. I always try to support small businesses, but I will no longer be supporting Spencer's.

Shame on me. Said I'd never go back to Spencer's farm stand but I was over that way so stopped in. Spoiled spinach, green beans looked like they had been there since last summer. Peppers pretty much rotten. I don't get why they even put spoiled items out? Please go to our local farmers market and support local growers. Prices better and quality puts Spencer's to shame.
