We stumbled upon this quaint little cafe while out for a Sunday drive, and it turned out to be a delightful find. Our server, Lilly, was wonderful--attentive, sweet, and witty, with a great sense of humor. We ordered the Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Benedict and the Egg and Cheese Croissant.There was a small hiccup with the Benedict; though Lilly requested the hollandaise on the side, the cook didn't get it right. Lilly immediately let us know as she brought it out and had it sent back. When the new one arrived, it was missing the asparagus, and the poached eggs were a bit undercooked, which was a bit disappointing--so one star off for the kitchen. Lilly made up for it by bringing a side of asparagus, and the smoked salmon itself was fresh and flavorful. The Benedict was served on a delicious crepe, alongside a unique side of cheese potatoes that looked like a slice of pie. With properly cooked eggs and asparagus in place, this dish would've been fantastic. I loved getting to try something I wouldn't make at home, so this dish still stood out.My husband enjoyed his breakfast croissant and polished it off quickly. Overall, a lovely experience, thanks largely to Lilly's excellent service.

I drove 35 minutes to get there it's about 12:00 so I walk inside to get a banana Nutella crepe and the girl says we aren't making them now. You got to be kidding me. How in the heck do you have them on the menu and they say we aren't making them now. I knew I should have driven to Paris Crepe

If you are looking for a quick, in and out meal, go somewhere else. To me, that's a positive in this busy world we live in. The Speed Trap, is relaxed, friendly and darn good food - well worth stopping in for the service with a smile that many restaurants seem to overlook. The Speed Trap captures the Palmer Lake culture and small town vibe. Great old building that has limited seating, but feels comfortable in its space and I'm sure worth the wait when busy. Enjoyed the Eggs Benedict crepe, and sampled the avocado toast. Both are delicious and the slice of toast is huge. So large that I feel there was more than one avocado used in the preparation. Pictures don't do the food justice. Stop in and find out for yourself while also supporting local small businesses.

We absolutely loved our brunch! Service was good, food was incredible, prices reasonable. We even went on a Saturday. I think for those of you who don't want slow service, wait a bit and go around 11 or 12. The crowds are gone and you can get all the attention you need! This is an excellent business and a key part of our Palmer Lake community. Please continue to support them- it's up to us to keep them thriving!

Extremely slow service...not great....out for a Sunday drive...stumbled upon this place...now I know why there were only a couple cars out front.....and just a hand full of people.....I had to wait 35 minutes to get waited on, and then waited 25 minutes for my food that never came....I decided to just leave. My family being in the food business for 60 years.......this would have never happened.........if it did, all food would be comp'd....just to keep a customer and have them come back.

Just don't even consider Speed Trap for a meal. We lived in the area several years ago and at that time, this place was good for a hot and delicious breakfast. Not anymore! We got a cinnamon roll that resembled a hockey puck - probably made a week ago. My knife could barely saw through it! The Benedict Crepe ($17) was a cold folded crepe with a slice of ham and slimy, undercooked poached egg sitting on top. The breakfast was cold... not a little warm.... COLD. Nothing was freshly made and we waited 45 minutes to be served our food! My husband said this was the worst restaurant meal he's been served in many years! The teens that were serving were nice, but obviously didn't have any supervision. They were busy visiting and talking inside the building rather than helping customers. The outside patio is pleasant, but it appeared as if the area hadn't been swept all summer! We'll skip Palmer Lake for breakfast and go into Monument or Colorado Springs next time.

Very disappointed with the staff. Our server was extremely slow and it took over an hour to get two Crepes. I also ordered a late and told the girl I cannot have whole milk and tripled checked it was oat milk. I am paying the consequences now and super sick. When I walked in to use the bathroom the staff were all just standing around, meanwhile not only did we have to ask for refills but other tables around had to ask and they "forgot". We also received a very warm beer that was on tap which was pretty wild. I was super excited to try this place, it's a shame we didn't have a better experience.
