We purchased a pig from a local rancher, and they told us they would be taking their livestock to Simla Frozen Food Locker for processing. We had never used this butcher before, but we had no choice. We filled out the cut sheet online and were told when we could pick up the packaged meat. We went to the front office to make our payment, and it was disgusting, completely filled with flies everywhere in the office. The entrance where the livestock are dropped off was also bleak and filthy. We later mentioned this to the rancher, and we were assured that they had toured the processing area, and it was spotless. Hmm. But our experience never got better. First, we had ordered the pork belly to be whole, but it was cut into fresh side. All of it. I called to complain, telling them we'd filled out the cut sheet online and had clearly stated what we wanted. The owner paused to look at the online order. His response was, "Oh, I'm going to have to talk to our internet guy and get that fixed....well, a lot of people are asking for fresh side these days." There was no offer to trade and no other remedy offered. The ground pork was so filled with fat that my hands were covered in grease when I used it; that is a poor and cheap mix for ground pork. In one of the packages we opened, there were pieces of chopped peppercorns--or poop. ?? We had not ordered anything with a spice in it. Last, and worst, we found a dead fly in a package of pork chops. I don't need to say anything else; this place is a disaster and a complete lack of cleanliness and care. Never. Again.

Best place to get meat bundles. Definitely worth the drive from Colorado Springs or Denver. Got a turkey for Thanksgiving one year. Best ever!
