Spent a few hours at the ranch yesterday for one of their open houses. It was so nice to listen to Ann's history of the ranch, especially since she lived there for 6 yrs in the 70's and got to meet some Rose Schweiger herself and interview her. This woman had the hindsight to think that memories and photographs of the farm were important, even back then when she only rented the ranch to live in it. Little did she know that the ranch would become a protected historical building and that her daughter Virginia would become caretaker for the place. Now all that information and photographical knowledge she collected can be passed down for generations to come! This family is super welcoming, they made us home-made biscuits and had local honey to go with it. They also had the kids churning butter as a learning experience. In the past few years they have received a few historic funds grants and they are putting them to very good use. I can't wait to see what this ranch will become in the future! I will definitely come back again and again. One of the little gems of the Rockies that have been preserved for the future!
