Incline challenges are a love / hate workout but there is no doubt I love the view at the top of the climb.

I just saw this on Yelp today while looking for something to do or see and decided to take the walk. While driving in, you go past the Water Purification Plant and continue onto the gravel road. There's a parking lot that's free to use. There are two Honey Buckets aka Port-A-Pottys. Just beyond those is the trailhead with a map with a few trails on it as well as where the Ranger Station is located.Dogs must be leashed at all times! They are specifically not allowed on the incline steps. The loop is approximately 1 mile. I chose to go up the hill on a gravelly dirt path (Rosie Rueter Trail) and descend via the 132 steps (Incline Trail). There are actually 153 steps, unofficially. From the bottom of the steps to the top is a 232 ft elevation. They mostly seemed pretty deep for me. I couldn't imagine walking up them! Children made it up to the top like it wasn't too difficult. I am not a hiker or even a fit person, so this entire outing was a very concerted effort! There is no shaded area anywhere, whether using the staircase or the path on the other side. Wear a hat and bring water. Be on the lookout for snakes per the warning signs posted.Once at the top, there are rocks to sit on to rest. There's a nice information board to look at. You can refer to it while trying to figure out what you're looking at in the distance. Pike's Peak stands out on the board, but I couldn't see it in real life today, Well, I'm sure I saw it out there through the haze. You can also see Denver. On the side where the stairs are, you can see the Rueter-Hess Reservoir. It's always good to be out in nature and soak in the sun and fresh air! I meandered my way around this loop and it took me way too long, but I made it! Not too much of an accomplishment to many people, but it was for me!

This incline is nice because it has a loop and the grade is consistent. Having done Philip S Miller and Manitou, this one is very consistent with step height and depth. The loop afterwards has an offshoot that has a few rocks and views.

Lots of new trails around if you want to explore the area. Beware that there are rattle snacks during the summer/hot days so be careful. No dogs are allowed on the steps but you can walk around on the trail and it's just as tough of a workout as the steps. Overall, one of my favorite places!

As of now, I would say that the Rueter-Hess Incline is only well known by the locals as there were only about 5 cars in the whole parking lot, which was rather big. There is a short walk and uphill gradient to get to the base of the incline. Once you are there I would take a short break to prepare for the 132 step climb. Although it's nothing compared to the Manitou Incline it is still a workout and can be difficult for some people as it was for me. Once at the top, there are quite a few boulders to sit and take a rest for a few minutes. The view from the top isn't particularly the grandest, but it was still nice to see everything from above and what you have just accomplished. The walk back to the parking lot is mostly a decent the whole time, but it isn't too bad. There are landings along the way to take breaks and rest your knees. Also, I would recommend bringing a water bottle with you. We came across an older gentleman who saw ours and voiced that he wished he would've brought his with him. It's been super hot outside so water is essential to keep hydrated and feeling good. Another thing I should mention is that there is no shade cover so come early or bring sunscreen and hats. Overall, this is a great hike to get you going for the day and I'm sure that this would be a great place to watch the sunrise or sunset.

This is a pretty cool place and the view from the top is great, they even have a panoramic sign with all the peak names. The incline is about 150 stairs. I am not in a great shape and I was able to climb pretty easily. The entire loop is about 1 mile. I saw some people run the entire loop and do 2-3 laps. There were also many families with little kids. The place is a few minutes drive from Parker.

I love it! This little gem opened Thanksgiving 2020 in walking distance from my neighborhood. It was a lifesaver during the pandemic and the view from the top is spectacular. I can't wait for more of the connecting trails to open up. The East West Trail was connected this past summer, and it is beautiful as well. Don't forget your hydration pack!
