Royal International Market

Cute local Russian grocery store with a full deli counter, hot prepared food station. Lots of European treats sold individually so you can sample them all. Everyone is really friendly and will describe anything you are unsure of and make great recommendations for newbies or people who can't read the Russian labels.

Look here's the thing... this is an authentic Russian market. I would never have stopped in if my husband's family wasn't Ukrainian/Belorussian. Honestly, if I went by myself I would probably stress about not knowing what is going on but they have the best prepared foods and such good deals. But remember, this is a different culture and mindset. The food is incredible. Get the shashlik kebab, Golubtsi (stuffed cabbage), carrot, beet, or cabbage salads. Also if you see triangle cake, GET IT! They have amazing Farmers Cheese, caviar, herring, black bread, beef salami (the Evreiskaya is amazing). So yes, there is a language barrier and yes, it may be uncomfortable at first, if you are adventurous and enjoy eastern european food, you must try this place!

Pretty disgusted at how I was just treated. I've gone here for years and today I wanted to grab some candy. I have food stamps and although maybe it seems like you shouldn't be able to get candy with food stamps it doesn't mean you can't. Just because I am broke also doesn't mean I'm not aloud to try and get something that is a treat once in a while. So I came here for that and at the register the cashier OUT LOUD proclaimed I can't buy candy on food stamps. So everyone can hear. I proceeded to tell her that yes I can. And she said no I can and I said would you like to try so you can see that I can? And she refused to ring up my item. I had to put it back after waiting in line IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. All because she refused to even try when I know that I'm right. Not only am I the one with the EBT I also used to work as a cashier and have watched hundreds of people purchase similar items and I've purchased candy before. So to make me return my items and refuse to ring them up? I will never be back. Maybe learn before acting like you know. Wonderful selection of goods, delicious deli meats! We enjoyed some of the cooked foods also! We are never disappointed when we come here.

Stopped by to see what interesting products they had, but left within two minutes. The employees were unfriendly and we felt very unwelcome.
