Rock City Cafe

Was in CO Springs for an event at the Airforce Academy and checked Yelp and popped into this spot for some BFast grub. Glad I did. It is a very small spot, but you could tell locals love it and the chef is obviously talented. I got the French toast, side of bacon, and hash. The young lady with awesome pink hair told me folks like how the chef gets the hash crispy, but I couldn't go wrong with the breakfast potatoes either. They let you know(signs) food is made to order, so if you are in a rush you better order ahead! The food tasted like it was made to order and prepared with care. Anyway, great spot. A local place to get a great meal, even for an out of towner! The diner/cafe feel was wonderfully created with nostalgic flicks on the tables, signs & messages on the walls and amusing quotes in various places. I would have taken pictures, but didn't want to disturb the casual and intimate morning vibe that made the whole experience enjoyable. Took mental pictures! Rock City Cafe is doing some great things...I would love a spot like this in my hometown.

I have been wanting to try the rock city Café for a long time. My husband likes to ride our bikes to restaurants whenever we can, so we have been waiting for a day which never came. So, while he's out of town, I drove here!I was greeted and seated when I entered. The decor was very old style diner, which I appreciated. I even took pictures of the signs on the wall. As I looked over the menu, I asked for some iced tea which came quickly. The whiteboard by the door had listed a hatch chile burger that sounded wonderful. When the server came to take my order, she regretfully informed me that they were out of hatch chilies because that burger had been very popular. So I ordered the Slopper instead. But I asked if they could put it on a bed of lettuce instead of on bread or bun. I almost ordered the Colorado flopper, but I noticed that it came with eggs, which I have to limit. The server said she could add the onions and jalapeños to my burger without a problem. And I stuck with the fries as people had recommended them.When my lunch arrived, it looked and smelled delicious. As requested, they had added lettuce, onions, and jalapeños over the top of the burger, and there was no bread. The fries were hot and looked wonderful. Everything tasted as good as it looked! I did try to use a 5% off Yelp coupon for checking in, but the server had never heard of it and had to text the owner or manager who did not respond in time for me to use it. I look forward to bringing my husband here! And maybe I will actually try some breakfast food next time.

We stopped here around 9:00 on a Friday morning and just a few tables were filled. Our server Kim was the only one working the room and she did a great job as by the time we left, all tables were filled. I ordered huevos ranchero with green chili sauce on the side and hubs had the smaller breakfast burrito but it was still pretty big! Food took a bit to come out but well worth the wait as it was absolutely delicious- as you leave and walk out the door, be sure to stop and look at the beautiful Mountain View right in front of you and be happy that you were able to have this wonderful experience!

Best Reuben I've had in a long time. Friendly staff and ownership. Were really kind to our kids.

Was getting the car fixed and walked over here. THE BEST breakfast burrito I have ever had...EVER. Potatoes were seasoned to perfection and crispy. As was the bacon. Green chili on top was perfection. You could not picture a more nondescript small restaurant. Pretty crowded and only about 40 seats. I will be back... and I will have the same thing.

Decided to give this local spot a try for breakfast. It has a rock music old diner vibe which I loved. The waitress was lovely and checked in on us often. You could tell she really connects with her patrons as she knew most by name. We ordered the huevos rancheros and the sissy sized burrito with green chili. The food came out in good time and our coffee was kept full and hot. The green chili was robust and had flavor although it's not my personal preference and the huevos rancheros was made with a fried flour tortilla instead of traditional corn tortilla. Cute little spot and worth checking out.

We visited on a Sunday morning around 9am. The place was mostly empty so we were seated right away. The restaurant seems very clean and feels spacious, considering the restaurant is quite small.After we had ordered our drinks, we had to wait awhile before ordering food. It wasn't until coming to get our food order that the server said the kitchen was very backed up with to-go orders. Could this not be mentioned before we were even seated? At this point, we felt it best to just wait because we'd already been seated and given our drink orders. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. Although our food came out hot, it was very underwhelming. The pancakes were so dry, my daughter didn't want to finish them. My husband also said his French toast was dry and it didn't taste like brioche bread like the menu advertised. However, the Nana's Southern Stack was quite good. It's like a southern twist on the eggs benedict. The biscuit was nice and soft and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Everything on this dish went well together.Unfortunately, our experience was mediocre and the food wasn't anything special. If we do come back we'd maybe try lunch. Otherwise, we're not in a hurry to come back.

The servers are very friendly here! Only giving 4 stars because I wish they had more allergy options, gluten-free and vegetarian options are kind of a must here in Colorado Springs now. It would be great to have some more choices on the menu for people with allergies. Options for Lattes would be great too outside of just regular coffee with creamer.

We ate breakfast here today. I had the Breakfast Burrito. It was incredible! I wanted to thoroughly enjoy the meal, so I cut it open and just dove in! Amazing chili, potatoes, meats, scrambled eggs, onions... just the perfect mix of ingredients! I had to leave the tortilla behind because I got comfortably full!! I felt like I had a good, solid, wholesome meal (excluding the extra carbs I would have had from the tortillas)! Fantastic breakfast anyway you "cut"it!

This place is awesome their corn beef is sooo good, not from the can. Their chicken fried steak is really good as well. They have other things on the menu just have not tried them yet. This place is a hidden gem!!
