Don't be deceived by its size: this is a farmer's market - the size that of a small dog, say, Chihuahua - that boldly exists and has been serving the community in a relatively small section of the city of Aurora since 2020 (hopefully I'm right on this.) The fact that I didn't know it has existed until a few weeks ago is something I need to fathom. Whatever the case may be, I got to know it is the most important thing.According to its website, its motto appears right on the front page: "Feeding our community one garden at a time". This concept resonates with me so much. I get the impression that they don't care about the size of the market, they simply focus on the quality by providing nutrients that are largely lacking in our human lives because what they focus on is "contamination free".On a hot summer day in mid June, I was at the former location of its market (I think they had just announce that they are moving its location to Aurora Town Center which is still well within my reach) with my umbrella over me to avoid the strong sun.Coffee vendors to produce vendors to a bakery to a holistic vendor with a chair massage, there are about 10 to no more than 15 vendors lined up to welcome like-minded visitors who are looking for some rare finds. Each tent welcomed me with open arms. Yes, everyone is welcome.I sampled a morsel of a jalapeno cheddar sourdough bread at a 5260 Bread Co and this was one of the best breads I have ever tasted might not be an exaggerated statement. Genese with Gifted Touch gave me one of the most relaxing massages which put me to half sleep. But most of all, Anisha's Farms impressed me the most out of all. Anisha grows vegetables in her (backyard?) garden. Using those veggies with no contaminants, she makes jars of what's somewhat considered a "salsa" called "chow chow". But it's more than the regular salsa. It's fermented that gives all sorts of nutrients. In a way, this is a wellness product you can incorporate into your daily meal routine.I got me the medium spicy which isn't spicy at all (I'm saying this from the standpoint of someone who is not big on spicy hot stuff.) I put this one on egg white omelet or sauteed spinach or even cold tofu to eat it in the morning. This absolutely enhances my morning meal each day which I even look forward to it the night before about dreaming about consuming Anisha's magical concoction. I feel like my body is cleansed from deep within.I cannot wait to go back and buy more of those. Next time, I am determined to buy a loaf of the jalapeno cheddar sourdough from the bread company (makes my mouth water by imagining it.)Thanks Rebel Market, for becoming part of my community in the southeastern Denver metro area. You'll have my utmost respect and support going forward. I will see you at the new location in a week or so!

Rebel Marketplace is a monthly farmers market serving the immediate community of North Aurora. It's a natural extension of Rebels in the Garden, a grassroots movement to provide locally-grown and sourced ingredients through a series of backyard gardens, instead of a farm. I was pretty excited to find a farmers market in this area! It is small but mighty. Everyone was so unbelievably friendly, and everyone seemed to come together for community as much as the produce, flowers, plants and food and crafts. Most of the stalls were minority-owned and operated. We had delicious chicken and waffles from Sticky Drip Waffles, owned by mother and daughter duo Danette and Gaby. The Sweet Velma Brown is named after Danette's grandma, whose recipe inspired the cinnamon-covered cobbler peaches. Such a sweet story and topped with rainbow sprinkles - how much happier can food be? Another vendor shared with me some heirloom Colorado poppy seeds while I bought her heirloom grape hyacinth plants - both were passed down to her and have been growing on her property for a long time. I mean! I loved hearing the history of those plants as much as the live DJ. You just don't get these stories anywhere else. A lot of people were hanging out and just having a good time. The neighborhood reminded me a lot of the neighborhood I grew up in so I know how much this market means to the community. I'm excited to see how they grow. Next market is in June. See you there!

This is the first time I have attended this particular market, and I absolutely will be back. The booth proprietors are all soooo friendly! My granddaughter was selling mushrooms for Fox Fungi Urban Mushroom Farm. I bought some Chow Chow from the booth next to hers. I loved talking with all the booth proprietors and hearing them explain their products. One of my favorites was a booth called Marshmallow Express and featured treats made from homemade marshmallow made from sugar and agave. The teenager who owns the business is saving for a trip to Barcelona offered by her school next school year. This market is only a few years old, and in 2024 went weekly. Most of the booths are minority owned. Go support the local artisans and urban farmers!
