I love the Pueblo festival! This year (2023) it was the best I've seen it so far - they rearranged the stands a little and there are a ton of places, I spent hours there. I think they should not charge for entry, I feel like it's a little bit weird plus they only accept cash or some online payment method, however there is NO CELLULAR RECEPTION in the place, and that's why I can't give them 5 stars. There is also a good shuttle service but we did wait a little long. Some stands are too expensive, especially the food stands. Prices should be more affordable. Also, I couldn't find a stand with the official event merch this year, maybe I just missed it.So overall, this is a great experience and I love supporting the Pueblo chile farmers, however, a few things to still improve:* faster shuttle service* no fee to enter* provide cellular reception. this is simply ridiculous! * some stands charge outrageous pricesthe good:* can get fresh chiles* lots of food options* lots of other stands* happy atmosphere* so much to do

It's the last day of the Pueblo Chile & Frijoles festival. Though I could not find frijoles by themselves, only with plates of other foods at places only accepting cash. As is typical with most street festivals it's best to come early. I got here at 1030am. Not too many people and temperatures were ok. By 230pm, it was crowded and hot. Plenty of food and clothing vendors, various knickknacks, political parties, golf cart vendor, shower installs, are throwing booth. In other words, everything under the sun. Most vendors accepted cash & cards (Square network). Plenty of ATM'S and porta potties. Most retail stores that had a booth on the street also were open. A few bars that serve alcohol were cash only. Plenty of security guards and dogs. I was wanded by security when I came in. There was a large percentage of dogs around. I started ith simple chile wrap from Pauliocis. Very spicy. I followed up with a horchata from Birrialicious. Sweet and full of cinnamon. I walked down S. Union Ave checking out the vendors. I walked all the way to B street. Found Pueblo's only food hall, Fuel & Iron. I will come back for a future visit. I walked back east. I bought 3 jars of unfiltered honey (after free tastings) from Honey Shack of Los Lunas, NM. Most of the vendors were local. Next, I got 3 bottles of chile sauce from Pex Peppers here in Pueblo. You take a plastic spoon and they gave me samples for 8 different sauces. They also had seasonings. The next food I got was at a booth in front of an upcoming plant-based restaurant called The Cutting Board. I got another chile wrap which was milder and chile fritters which were great. They should open in 2 months. Another place to visit. Walked around some more. I finally got a Strawberry-Mango ice cream infused with chile from Yogurt on Union. Wow, sweet and spicy at the same time!! The Pueblo Riverwalk is nearby.

I love this festival. Its so much better than the State Fair IMO. I enjoy the seller booths the most. The heritage dancers are great(not sure of the actual name) . The vibe is just so chill and relaxed, it cheers me up. Pueblo has so much culture and I love that. I did take a star off due to the lack of seating for people in general just to rest, eat and people watch. But, there is hardly any seating near the food area either, where do they expect people to eat after they buy that $12 funnel cake? The food prices are the second big issue, its not cheap. I noticed $12 funnel cakes and $15 burgers...its just expensive for the average person that lives in Pueblo to afford. Its worth the visit tho! Bite Me bakery is my favorite place to grab a sweet treat!

Take cash. I wasted 4 hours round trip driving to this festival, purchased a ticket online, then the ticket would never generate, so I could NOT enter the festival after buying a ticket. Never going back.

Stumbled in to the festival on accident while passing through. I am a sucker for these kinds of things so we had to stop in. I am pretty sure the admission was $2 or $3 so it was perfectly priced. There are the typical booths selling crafts and yummy junk food. My favorite part was the chile roasting. How cool! Flaming chiles of maximum deliciousness! I got a bunch of peppers to stuff my suitcase and set my mouth on fire, listened to some music and contemplated a beer but never got around to it. Nice, chill way to spend a warm early Autumn evening.

If you love green chiles...then this is the place to be. The festival offers a great selection of food vendors that offer a variety of dishes involving green chile. There is also your typical turkey leg and funnel cake vendors. There are several place at the festival to buy fresh roasted green chiles. They roast them on site and give a bushel to you in a plastic bag. The key is to have a ice chest in your car to transport them home. Most of these places take credit card. Parking is free if you park in the convention center parking garage. There is a $2 fee to enter the festival. Most of the food vendors is cash only. If you haven't tried a slopper...then go do it here. I know its sounds gross and other thoughts come to your mind when you hear the word slopper, but its a Pueblo tradition of a hamburger smothered in pork green chile.

Great festival with a weekend worth of things to see and do. There are a number of vendors, all sorts of food, and music and other entertainment. The best part is you can purchase many different types of fresh or roasted chile to take home and freeze for year round use. The price is right (only $2) for a weekend full of fun.
