This Jefferson County park is well maintained with plenty of parking and better than average vaulted toilet. Has two large reservable shelters with many picnic tables and also gazebo at the island for that special occasion. Today's visit, did not see any rangers.Lots of picnic tables by the creeks too. No open fires allowed at this time but allowed to bring gas grills.Lots of anglers, hikers and bikers were present while at the site

Had a great time snowshoeing here! Snow was scarce in some places but was still fun. Not a strenuous hike and was scenic and nice. Parking lot was not full and spacious. The ice on the lake is thick enough so there were people ice skating and ice fishing. I would say that spikes are better than snow shoes but was still a fun experience and it's also pretty here in the summer.

Beautiful area. Lots of trails. By the river. Picnic tables, and gazebos. Great for all ages. Dog friendly. Fishing is allowed on the lake. Several docks to fish from.

This area had more fishermen and bikers than hikers which is fine with me since I'm a hiker. I really like the Pine area and enjoy exploring around here especially when Im in the area looking for a quick hike. I did part of Buck Gulch and the Strawberry Jack trail which had some decent elevation gain and a lot of burn areas. It was a windy day but still got to take in the sites of mountains in the distance. The Buck Gulch trail is about 12 miles long so I look forward to conquering that soon!

This small park, about an hour from Denver.Very popular with fisherman and large groups having picnics. We chose the narrow gauge trail, cause it was supposed to have trees and meadows and a limited grade. It turned out to just be a long drive for a walk on a hot path! The lake was really pretty, there were hawks and bald eagles. There are a couple other trails that are steeper and hiker only, and a restored castle (only open for tours on sundays 11-2)Dogs are allowed, on leashIt is at 8-9k feet, so there is a break from the heat of denver, also a bonus.

Great place for a winter hike. We opted for the Narrow Gauge trail. Great view of the north fork of the South Platte River. The river was frozen over and beautiful. Scenic views, small pedestrian bridges, and an easy morning hike.
