Wow, this museum was very interesting! The local history is fascinating! The displays, movie and view of the gold mine were soooo awesome! The museum is donations only... well worth the $10 donation... I would have paid more!

What an awesome place to go to when new in town! Our family of 8 convoyed together there and needed a bathroom break. We had no idea how much history was in this town! The building alone catches your eye as it sits surrounded by the spectacular views of mountains and the town below it. The lady behind the desk was super friendly as she gave us a map and showed us how to get to our next destination.

In taking advantage of the long holiday weekend, my husband and I decided to explore the town of Cripple Creek, starting at the Heritage Center. This is, hands down, the best introduction to this famous mining town! Why?++ The building is the first thing to greet visitors as they enter the town of Cripple Creek, offering outstanding views of the snowcapped mountains, surrounding areas and the small town below!++ Functioning as a museum, the space is filled with history of the area, local artifacts, gold and gems found in the surrounding mines and a scale model of the famous Kathleen mine (who was the only mine to be owned and operated by a woman!), a look at life as a miner in town, and the various wildlife in town. The space offers two full floors to explore!++ Staff is insanely friendly, provides information on local attractions (with free guides and brochures) and is very knowledgeable of the history of the area!++ Open 7 days a week from 9AM-5PM and admission is FREE!There is no better way to start a mountain getaway! Come here!

We love this place. We drive up the mountain sometimes just to go here. It is always clean and informative. The restrooms are kept up. They have a great view overlooking Cripple Creek. Their workers are always friendly. We always put donations in their tip box which is divided by each state. It is always fun to see which state has the most donations because each person in my family was born in a different state. I recommend you visit the center.

A great place to visit while in Cripple Creek. Admittance is free, but they do encourage a donation. There are three floors with very interesting information about the town, mining and the area in general. bathrooms were clean, and there is an elevator. Make sure on your way out to ask how to get to the Newmark mine overlook, it's free and gives you a great view of the mine.

Visited the Heritage Center last month. Great place to get some historic information about the Pike's Peak gold rush and enjoy the spectacular views. Admission is free, they have a nifty donation box sorted by state, so you can see who has donated the most. Glad we came here first before going on a gold mine tour and visiting the town of Cripple Creek. Recommend and will repeat when my travels bring me back!

We came here with the bf's family. Otherwise, we never found have had sense to visit this wonderful place. We had traveled around a bit and see Cripple Creek and the gold mine. And stopped here to get a little more historic information. The Heritage Center has a lot of information about mining. Also, they have a short film downstairs, so do not miss. This stop is very worthwhile.

We visited for the very first time. The place looked really neat and my kids were excited to explore. Unfortunately the lady at the front desk was VERY rude to all the children in our group and we didn't feel welcomed so we left abruptly.

Come for the view of the Stange de Cristos if nothing else. Museum is well done. I would however get a private office for staff to make phone calls. The lady was having a tense discussion with a supplier over their inability to deliver at a valid Cripple Creek Address. This reverberated through the main and upper levels. Very distracting and unnecessary. To absorb all the center has to offer is done better if the sound level resembles a library.
