This is a must-see if you care at all about military and US History! This museum is located at Peterson Air Force Base. If you do not have a military ID, you will need to request base access through the museum website ahead of time but it is super easy and this museum is excellent and FREE.The museum is filled with volunteers and employees who are there to tell you about all of the wonderful history and exhibits. Everyone has a great amount of knowledge and many have a nexus to the military. You will not regret checking out this beautiful museum!

This is a neat, and Free, thing to do with out of town visitors interested in planes, as long as you are prepared to spend half a day visiting museum. The docents seem very knowledgeable and you get to tour a plane as well as see a lot of other cool planes. There are a few things that are very important to note. First, make sure you are prepared to spend a half a day. After 2 1/2 hours we were not yet done with the tour but we were so starving hungry we had to leave. The docent was very chatty, and while that would be fun if you're prepared for a half a day, we thought the tour would be about an hour long, not 2 1/2-3 hours. Second, you must call 24 in hours in advance in order to go visit the museum. Third, you cannot use your GPS to get to this location. Your GPS will take you down Peterson, and you must enter through the west entrance which is off of Powers and Airport.

Great and FREE place to take your kids or visitors on the weekend. A lot of the exhibits are very hands on and you can touch all the aircraft and even climb into one to look around. The volunteers are so friendly and nice too! We made an airplane day out of it and following up the museum visit with lunch at The Airplane Restaurant. This is on Peterson, so you need to be able to go through the gates to visit the museum.

Spent an entire morning with the wife at Peterson Air & Space Museum. Learned so much about the Air Force that I never knew, and I'm an avid military history buff. Our guide spent several hours with us, explaining every exhibit and answering dozens of questions. If you have any interest in aviation and/or our missile defense system, you'll enjoy this place. And it's free.Make sure you sign up a day or two ahead of time to get permission to enter the base.

It's pretty cool. You don't get to see huge planes up close and personal everyday, after all lol. Enjoyed the indoor and outdoor exhibits equally.

A great place to visit with the family. You can get a guided tour of the aircraft and even go inside a decommissioned plane from the Cold War. Dick and Jake the tour guides were amazing. They were both former military that both have personal experience with some of the exhibits. It's free to tour but you have to call the phone number and request a visitor pass 24 hours prior to coming.

You can visit the aircraft on the grounds but the museum building seems permanently closed. The grounds with aircraft on it are available to visit 24/7 but we wanted to visit the museum building. It states hours they are suppose to be open but never is. It would be nice if they update their website to reflect this since we weren't the only group that was trying to visit today.

Had a great memorable experience. I learned quite a bit during the tour. Great staff who volunteer their time to educate and share history. Do recommend this place and the cost is free.

Went with our tweens and had a good tour. There has to be some interest in the group to make it a good visit, and my father in law served on a B-17, so only one of my kids had great interest. The debriefing is Gold for older home-schoolers or students working on a related project, but may feel long for the casual tourists and will be tough for younger kids. Lovely staff and exhibits rival, content-wise, what I've seen at the Smithsonian, though their funding is more modest. The flight simulator was great, but it's a substantial wait while each person has a flight, so manage the line accordingly.
