This was my #1 on my visit list! It did not disappoint! The 2 woman who provided the tour were very nice and knowledgeable. Calling it a tour is an understatement. It was like being a fly on the wall in an old time brothel with an interesting narrator. The history and old items were fascinating. I even bought a book about Madam Devere! Enjoy!!

When visiting Cripple Creek, we didn't really have a plan other than going to the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, and wandering around town. We stumbled upon this brothel museum, and said why not? You can't pass up an opportunity like this. Our tour guides were phenomenal and knowledgeable. We learned a vast amount of knowledge about various things during the tour. The term swooning actually was just fainting because the corsets were tied too tight. The girls working out of the Homestead House made $100 a day, or what is equivalent to $7,000 today. The Homestead House vetted out their clients and it was exclusive. The person who received the bed spread in one of the rooms was the lady who started the museum in 1958. The history in this place is awesome. Check this museum out and you won't be sorry to learn about the history of the area, the women, and the house. When you're in the Old West, you have to visit what made the Old West a place of legends.

I loved taking this tour at Cripple Creek. We paid $7 each for the tour and it was so worth it! Loved hearing the stories of Pearl and the ladies in the brothel. So impressed with all the gorgeous antiques- including an early Tiffany lamp, handmade lace bedspreads, hand textured wallpaper. The docents were awesome and really well informed. Highly recommend doing this while you're in town (and despite the fact that it's a former brothel, the info was pretty family friendly).

This is a brothel museum with some pretty impressive antiques from the late 1800s. If you are looking for a break from casinos and want to have some education definitely check this place out. For $5 you get a guided tour of ten rooms of an old brothel that was running in the late 1800s and early 1900s from women that might have been alive then (joking but they were the funniest and most outspoken older ladies I have bumped into in sometime). The whole tour will take maybe 20 minutes but you can walk around and look at things to your content. Each room has impressive antiques and history and the ladies giving the tours while being hilarious also give you some great insights to how important and popular prostitution was I. The mining town. Go for a random bit of history and a laugh and leave with a smile that the original working ladies would be proud of.

It is strange that in many Western towns that I've visited, there is always a bldg which remains in dedication to the industry of pleasure. Here is a brothel which was built by Madame Pearl DeVere in 1896. The house was considered luxurious for its time, it had the amenities such as electricity and running water. Today the Wild Horse Casino owns the property. Although the exterior of the bldg looks nondescript, the interior was lavishly decorated. The docents who give the tours are themselves characters, which adds to the charm of the house.

This was pretty neat. Having just drove past and thought "hm I wonder what this is about" we could have used more of a background before jumping into "this is the parlor" maybe there was something we should have seen first? It was cool either way.
