I have hiked this area pretty frequently, it's a really nice trail that starts really wooded but then opens up to a large field as you keep going which has the most amazing views of the mountains! I think it would be the perfect open space for a picnic but it was a really clean and beautiful trail for walking my dog! There is a small parking lot at the trail head in the picture but there's a map before starting the trail that shows other parking areas and other trails as well. Very well-marked trail.

Great assortment of hiking difficulty levels, very easy access from COS, and really fantastic views make this as much a destination as Garden of Gods.....except, it's not filled with panting TOURISTS from Milwaukee and Cleveland! Huge Plus! If you're reading this, don't tell!

What is there not to like about Cheyenne? Serious question. Yes, it gets a bit packed on the weekends but for all the right reasons. There is so much going on at this mountain with many different trails offering multiple levels of difficulty. Feel free to pull off at one of the many pull off 'parking' options to begin your trek up the mountain. My personal favorite is the Columbine Trail that you can pick up at the beginning of the parks entrance or at one of the pull offs (26). I definitely recommend wearing the proper shoes as 99.9% of the trail is rocky. And don't forget your water as most of the trails are not shaded and can get pretty warm in the summers. It can get crammed on the weekends especially during spring and summertime as the parking is pretty limited per 'pull off'. I personally like to go fairly early on the weekends and late afternoon during the week to help avoid the crowds. The trails and the park itself are wonderfully maintained and very easy to navigate as they are marked with signs and arrows along the way. There is of course the occasional dog droppings so if you're one of those please be courteous to others. Otherwise, bring your bike, your water and get out there and enjoy the mountain. This is one of my favorite places in Colorado Springs!

Love, love, love coming up to N. Cheyenne Canyon. Despite how busy and crowded it gets in the summer, and all the rude dog owners who leave dog's excrement on the pathways, this is still one of the best hiking areas in the Springs. So many trails starting in the canyon. So many chances for adventures, so close to the city. Love it.

Was able to enjoy vastly different trails over a number of days: Mt. Muscoco, Seven Bridges, St. Mary's Waterfall, etc. Each trail was well-maintained, the parking lots were easy to navigate, and the views were lovely even in the freezing snow.

Went on a late December hike here that was rather icy and snowy. It was a bit tough driving up the winding mountain/canyon roads and I slid once on the black ice. But if you feel like you can make it up here after it's only snowed and iced up a bit you will have a beautiful hike through snow-covered trees. I imagine if it gets too late into the winter snow shoes would be a requirement in most places while others may be completely inaccessible. We hiked up to St. Mary's Falls. When you scramble up the rocks near the falls you will be close to 9,000ft. That was pretty impressive to me, being from east of the Mississippi. Again though, even in late December the falls are completely frozen over and the trail is encroached with ice so I wouldn't advise hiking up that way if you're not able bodied and willing to gamble with your life. I also would suggest wearing the rubber boot spikes to help with grip this time of year. When you're not struggling to keep upright and you're on the flatter trails, the bubbling creek makes for beautiful sounds and views as you take a more leisurely pace. Lastly, it's very cool that this place is so close to a populated area - you almost don't expect it to be there!

North Cheyenne Canyon is my favorite city park to hike. The Columbine Trail is a fabulous trail to hike because it's fairly moderate but it can also be made into a bit of a challenge if you strap on a heavy pack and hike at a quick pace. Granted, the Columbine Trail is no "Incline" but you will get a work out. No where near the traffic on this trail compared to the Incline either. The scenery in the canyon is pretty darn nice. Rock formations, waterfalls, the stream which cuts through the canyon are all lovely. All sorts of activities to enjoy in the park, hiking, running, biking, rock climbing, picnicking, sight seeing. I'm certain there are plenty more. A hike up Mt Cutler takes no time at all and you get great views! The Friends of Cheyenne Canyon does a tremendous amount of maintenance and a ton of other volunteer activities to keep the park running. If you enjoy this park, definitely consider volunteering with them or giving some coin to help keep the park running.

We hike this area fairly frequently. Lots of different trail areas. Seven Bridges is one of our favorites. Nice parking areas, and porta-potties available. Helen Hunt Falls is a 35 foot waterfall with a trail that is also there.
