Had a great hike here yesterday! I drove up Saturday, 7-23 in my 2001 Highlander. I made it to the radio towers and probably could have went further. There's plenty of good campsites along the road. The trail turn off is easy to find, with big stone stairs leading up the peak. What a beautiful trail! You first arrive at a big flowery meadow. The hike isn't necessarily that hard, but there are numerous rocks from the meadow all to the summit. It's a very exposed peak and not one I would think about with storms. It's a pretty flat walk, then the trail climbs left up the ridge between Princeton and Tigger Peak. From here, there's great views south to Mt. Antero. The hike gets harder but never gets worse then class 2. There's a small false summit but overall a great hike! The views you get north and west are unreal, you can see many other peaks. Route finding was tricky but look for rock piles.

I would never give a mountain less than 5 stars because mountains are awesome, however that doesn't mean it's an easy hike. This was my 3rd 14er, so still fairly new to the game and it was definitely tough, but doable. The road up is scary and bumpy with pot holes, rocks, etc. I did it in my old Subaru Forester but it wasn't pleasant. The trail up to the ridge line is pretty easy to make out but still lots of rocks and parts where it's more rock than trail. The trail as a whole is nearly nonexistent except for the rock stacks people make. This becomes very true once you're at the ridge line. This is where things get really ugly. The last 1/2 mile or so to the top is steep and rocky. Straight up scramble and bouldering! Thankfully there's not a false summit and when you FINALLY get to the top it's such an amazing feeling and accomplishment! It's a small area up top compared to others I've done. I did two things wrong: I tried taking a short cut on the way down and ended up soft core rock climbing my way back to the trail. Super scary and more work than it should've been so just take the all trails route. Also leave early! Start before 6 or 7am. I started at 8ish, took forever and it started raining, hailing and thundering. I was so worried but luckily I made it down safely. If you're thinking about doing this as your first 14er I would personally recommend Sherman or quandary. This is tougher and pretty long, super rocky and easy to get lost! But definitely do it eventually because it's also beautiful and there are hot springs down the road that would be fun to do after :) side note a day pass at Mt Princeton hot springs is 40$ & about 5 min drive from 2WD lot

Hardest hike of my life! Absolutely gorgeous but so rocky I yelled at my husband after the HARDER trek DOWNSTAIRS TO and wanted to hit him with my hiking pole. it made for difficult hiking and we hike a lot. The path was so rocky our two very well traveled healthy hiking dogs ended up with bloodied paws by the end of the 12 mile hike. SO not dog worthy without shoes for them. And make sure you have 4WD (we do) because even with it I was scared for my life on the tight road and also drive up as far as you can on the scary 4WD road only to lesson your hike and park as high as you can so you don't have to road hike for no reason (the 14-er is really hike enough!.

Unfortunately, our recent experience was not as good as our past. We had paid admission to the adult side of the springs and the hostess had given us the incorrect band and after spending most of the day on the adult side a young man representing the resort told us that our bands where incorrect and told us we had to leave the resort. We didn't know what color our bands had to be. We attempted to explain we had the receipt and he stated that was not his problem and that we had to leave No options to correct the situation. We sorted the problem out with the hostess but unfortunately our experience was ruined due to this young associate. As we where leaving we could over hear associates defending spa access with each other in front of patrons which adds to our poor experience. They may need to improve training for associates to improve customers experiences.

I was a local trying to have a relaxing night after a week full of stress and my dad gave me his punch pass to use for the night and to take a friend. The lady at the desk declined it because my name wasn't on it although it was gifted it to me for the night. This isn't the first inconvenience I've had a local there.Ridiculous.

Hi I would like to give Mark the bartender at this fabulous resort a 10! He was attentive, informative, just spot on one of the best bartenders I've ever encountered. I really hope he gets support from all that know him. His kids got sick yet he was working a 14 hour day! Suzy at the front desk also went above and beyond to help, she got a private shuttle so my son could go pick up his Tesla at the charger up the hill. These extra things from both employees should be acknowledged from the company. Thank you to both of you for reminding me that there are truly good people out there still willing to help in anyway they can

The spa receptionist failed to mention a masseuse did not show up for work that day, so my sister sat outside, alone for 90 minutes while my other sister and I were in our massages. Had we known what was happening, we would have opted out of the spa which is probably why we were misled in the first place. My other sister did not even receive her full services or a towel to dry off with after her masseuse told her to "go ahead and rinse off the sugar scrub because I lost track of time oh, go ahead and wrap yourself up in the bedsheet to walk to the showers" or when asked to apply more pressure said "it hurts my body to do that" So the assistant manager Seth (who was very nice but came out because the actual manager on duty couldn't be bothered to talk to us directly) compensated us for the spa by not charging us for anything and told us that we were going to get a round of cocktails and each of our entrees at dinner as well as a twenty percent discount on our room. About the room: the drain was clogged in the shower and tub, there were no fitted sheets on the mattresses, pillows were incredibly limp, mattresses were sagging. For $250 a night? Even with a 20% discount the room was incredibly overpriced. But wait, there's more! We made a reservation for dinner weeks in advance and asked for a table with a view. I was told "that we don't do that because there are no nice tables in our restaurant but we will make a note to get you a good one." Where did they seat us? Directly under an air vent blasting cold air on us right next to the loud service station/kitchen--It felt like we were being punished for having a poor experience tbh--Meanwhile, there was a lovely table right by a window that was sitting empty. We ordered the porterhouse special, they were sold out. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine. They were sold out. They offered us a bottle of champagne at half price, but the manager opened it and gave it to another table, and guess what? It was the last one. (After which he came to us with the other half of the bottle he had already served to someone else and was trying to give it to us wtf?). So we ordered a bottle of rose which thankfully, they did have. And for prices they are charging...steak was overcooked, trout (how do you not know how to cook a trout in Colorado?) was mush. And so much more. We had to get drunk just to make it through such a shit show. Oh, and remember that round of drinks and entree for our party as a "sorry we suck so bad at the spa" that we were promised? It didn't happen. Instead we got a $100 compensation off our total meal. Not what had been agreed upon and if three people order an entree, with the prices they charge, that $100 barely covers anything. But our server, Amanda was really nice. She did the best she could within the constraints of the situation. We even tipped 30 percent on what we WOULD HAVE SPENT without the paltry $100 discount. And we didn't complain. The worst part is, we were trying to make the best of a terribly disappointing weekend only to be met with disdain by the manager Caryn who "felt we had been more than compensated" and that the resort had "done enough". When confronted about the disparity between what we had been promised and what was delivered she had the audacity to sneer at me, "Well I see here they comped a bottle of wine." Ummm...yeah they did because it was a SHIT SHOW. Proper compensation would have been no charges at all. For the spa, dinner, the room, all of it. We cannot get back our time and to be treated like an ungrateful child was the cherry on top. And I didn't even mention the random charges on our bank cards. $410, $246, the part of dinner Caryn discounted? That got charged too. So be wary travelers, this resort is a scam and the management is a joke. All in all, we still spent $300 on dinner and $160 on the room. When we called to get a hold of the GM, they referred us to the reservations email and told us to tag the manager. Wow. Just...wow.
