Ms Laurels Piano Studio

My son has been taking piano lessons from Laurel Guenther (Ms. Laurel) since June 2011. We are SO fortunate that we found her as she is an excellent piano teacher and my son has progressed tremendously under her teaching.Ms. Laurel uses a classically based method series with theory books. She also adds supplemental theory studies as well as various technical supplements and duets. Ms. Laurel chooses music that suits my son's level and interests. It is very motivating to my son because he likes the music she picks for him so he enjoys practicing it. Ms. Laurel also teaches music appreciation. My son studies a new composer each month. He listens to various composer programs and then draws a portrait and completes an activity sheet. What she is doing for my son's musical playing skills as well as music appreciation is far beyond our expectations.Ms. Laurel offers her students performing experiences in various festivals when they reach level two. She also tapes all of her students informally in November and provides a DVD of that taping, and she tapes and provides a DVD of the annual Spring recital - all of this free of charge to her students.Ms. Laurel is very warm and supportive as a teacher. She generously offers treats to her students on holidays, as well as a birthday card on their special day, and she even gives them a composer statuette on their yearly anniversary.Overall, Ms. Laurel genuinely cares about my son's progress and is a total professional. She is an excellent teacher and we highly recommend her!
