Mountain View RV Resort - RV Park Royal Gorge

If a forrest setting is what you really want then this place is not for you. It is one of best manicured campgrounds I have ever stayed in. The camp sites are large, gravel spaces with picnic tables and fire pits, Some even have short sidewalks.The campground has a few trees, a basketball court and a small play ground for the kids. If you bring your dogs you will be happy to know there are 2 very nice dog walking areas. The restrooms are the best I have ever seen in a campground. They look like they are from a 5 star resort. The views are Spectacular from this campground. Folks with big rigs will love it here, very easy to get around. The owners are very pleasant people willing to help you in any way.

We are travel nurse full-timers. We made a reservation with Carter, the owner at the time, and paid our deposit for the reservation a couple of months before our stay. We were waiting to pay first and last months rent while Carter said it was fine to pay after income tax. We were already paying rent for our prior RV park simultaneously. A week before we were supposed to move there, Carter sent a text...not even man enough to give us a call to tell us he was cancelling our reservation because he didn't want "clients" that had to wait on an income tax return to be able to pay. He went on to say his niece is a nurse and has more money than she knows what to do with. Rude! We had the money, he just never called to tell us he was there to accept the money. He didn't even send his rude text asking us to pay. He just cancelled and never returned calls or texts after we had paid our money that was due at the time. I have since heard that he was selling the place. We were to be paying $850 a month. Our new place that we found in a crunch charges$1,200. We make our payments without any problems.The lack of sheer decency this man possesses is obvious. The place is also run down and old without any amenities, ZERO. Plenty of homeless people loitering at all hours. It turned out well for us to not be associated with Mountain View...the views aren't too great either. The KOA and Farmhouse in Cañon City are much nicer with much better views. Good job on screwing a nurse over, Carter! Some "man" you are!

We reserved a premium spot. When we got there, they changed us to a deluxe, because someone else wanted the spot, that was going to stay there longer. We had reserved that specific spot, because it afforded our dogs, grass and more space. They were nonchalant about it, so we forfeited our money, and found a better spot down the road, for $10 less a night. We stayed at Royal View campground...even closer to the gorge.

Great RV park near the Royal Gorge. Positives: Very clean and well maintained. The lots are level. The bathhouse is clean. The hosts are super friendly. Decent internet (if you need that)Negative: The park sits next to the highway. Not an issue if you are in a nice and insulated class A coach. Sucks, if you are in a hybrid like me. I could hear the traffic all night long. If you can reserve a spot, I'd recommend #10, 11 33 or 20. The premium spots have nice large concrete pads with a firepit.

July 6-12Staff very friendly. Jack helped us to our site and he helped again later with very available free WIFI.Super clean nice stone driveways (no dust). Beautiful views of the mountains and open prairie.Showers and restrooms well attended. Office staff very helpful and don't mind your mail or deliveries.Each site has new concrete patio. Very nice bar-b-que area and tables. Reasonable rates...I liked it here!Mike Adams

This may very well be the nicest and cleanest Rv park within a 30 mile radius of Canon city. The deal sealer? Value. You will find it hard to beat this level of Rv camping for prices they have. If you're looking to stay around the royal gorge area or visit Canon City, you must stay here. The facilities are clean and accommodating. The sites are easily in the top 5 I've ever stayed at nationwide. Clean, dry,level and the concrete pads take it to a new level (no pun intended) Full hookups. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Treat them and their facility with the same respect you would want if it were yours and I promise your experience here will be A+. We're coming back for sure.

BEWARE of cancellation policy. They also asked us if we purchased "travel insurance" from them when emergency arose to change plans. They refused to refund money that was taken months in advance when reservation was made. They only offered "credit" to the account. We drove a much longer distance to use up part of our money to stay at a park that had poor Wi-Fi, an old dirty laundry, no pool or any other amenities. We are full time and have never encountered such a poor park. Sad.

Such a nice surprise! Beautiful, clean and well manicured park. Best part was "Red" the very helpful and pleasant staff member. Spots were super clean with beautiful tables and concrete patios. Would definitely stay here again!!

It is not a resort, but it is okay and well cared for.We need internet and I asked before we booked if they had internet and if the availability and speed were good. I was told it was quote "great!" It is not. I tried for 4 hours to make a wi-fi call in the afternoon - no luck, no service. There is no wireless service with any carrier where this RV camp is located. I went to the office to let them know that there was a problem and then they told me, 'well sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It isn't always available.' Not great for me.I based our 4 night stay on being able to pay bills, make phone calls, and work a little. Not possible. There are no refunds for any reason.If you need internet don't go here. If you don't it's an ok place to park.

I had reserved and paid for 2 site with mountain view rv. Due to road contruction and detour we were expecting to arrive late to the rv camp, a little later than 9pm, I called ahead to explain why we were arriving late. The man I spoke to at rv office didnt care and told me I was a bad planner and then threaten me he was going to charge me a big fee if I even enter into the campground. He said that I couldn't stop there and that I better find a another campground for the night. I told him they already took my money why couldn't I park somewhere and checkin the next morning. He told me I can go ahead and leave a bad review. He also said I better not see you in my campground in the morning. I will not ever book mountain view rv again! I paid money for no service, was threatened, and intimidated. I was lucky and found another campground that were understanding and accommodate for my late arrival.No traveler should be treated this way. Can a business take my money, deny service, give threats? If you go on their fb page, you will see the owners response to my review. I never stop by his Campground. He made it very unsafe to a paid customer, please beware he is a greedy, rude, inconsiderate person.Update: the owner never offered to let me park outside! I had suggested if I could park as they already took my money. But after he threaten saying, "I better not see you in my campground in the morning", it was clear that it is not safe for me to be anywhere on his property. Please beware, lots other complaints from other customers too!
