MY FAVORITE PLACE IVE EVER STAYEDGet ready for the coziest mountain get away where you can run wild with the goats, chickens, ducks, cows, dogs, alpacas, and cats! Everything from the beds to the breakfast was perfect, plenty of study space with games and activities, this place was worth every penny! Gina and Darcy were wonderful chefs and baristas, they made this stay perfect! I simply can't recommend Mountain Goat Lodge enough!

My husband, and 2 dogs stayed at Mountain Goat Lodge about 2 months ago. We absolutely loved it! The breakfast was amazing, and the owners were so friendly (we thought the husband was a hoot!). Close enough to downtown Salida and not too far away from Buena Vista for a reasonable price! Keep in mind that this is dog friendly so if you have allergies like me, you will need to bring some allergy medicine. We have two hypo allergenic dogs and I completely forgot that I am allergic to dog hair. They do keep beddings clean but there obviously is residue of dog hair on the ground so my allergies were acting up so please be aware before booking! We will absolutely be back with our bubbas next time we visit Salida!

My husband surprised me with a stay at the Mountain Goat Lodge for my 40th birthday, and it was truly the loveliest, loveliest experience -- and I'm not one to just throw around words like "loveliest" willy-nilly, I assure you. First of all, the place is absolutely gorgeous. The first day, I just followed a brigade of goats around, what is it? 15 acres of land? Something like that. I trailed behind them as they grazed the gorgeous, mountain-surrounded grounds because THAT WAS SOMETHING YOU COULD DO. And I got to feel little baby-goat hooves in my lap, and hear happy goat-grunts as I scratched behind goat-ears, and I learned how to make various cheeses (that I won't be able to replicate in my own kitchen, but that's okay), and Gina -- one of the owners -- taught my husband and me the ins and outs of goat-rearing (if you're even a little bit interested in ever, maybe, in a future life, possibly raising goats, TAKE GINA'S GOAT HUSBANDRY CLASS), and D'Arcy -- the other owner -- was just generally a delight, and indulged my husband in video-game talk so I didn't have to (bless you, sir), and both owners make incredible breakfasts, and care wildly about the happiness and comfort of their guests (and their obviously-well-loved animals). If I could give this place all the stars (most of which you can see at night, since there's very little light pollution), I absolutely would. My stay was nothing short of magical. (And, oh! Salida, town-wise, is just charming as heck. Which may have nothing to do with the Lodge itself, but was a nice adjacent-town-perk!)

We had a great time. We all had fun playing with the goats, chickens and ducks. Breakfast was fantastic. Darcy and Gina were excellent hosts. We enjoyed getting a class on cheese making and learned a lot about milking goats.

Loved this find. We came in May and it ended up snowing in the morning. But inside it was warm and cozy. Our room had lots of windows to enjoy the darkness of being off the beaten path on the mountains so you could see stars while enjoying the electric fireplace. The house is on septic FYI. The bathroom water pressure and temperature were great! We were on the first floor and there was some noise between floors but not too bad. We had a fridge and two TVs for white noise too. In the morning we got to see the chickens and goats they have on the property and they obviously have other farm projects like expanding the greenhouse going on. I liked the goats and wish we could have stayed to meet the littlest one. Breakfast was awesome. We had a short time line and had to leave before the typical served breakfast and let her know that we wouldn't make it. Graciously she packed us a to go breakfast with everything! Yogurt parfait, egg and ham sandwich, and fresh squeezed orange juice. It was really nice and delicious. Home made and well packaged. Thank you!

We drove from Denver just to visit the goats and partake in the morning tour and let me tell you, it was AWESOME! The goats are so loved and well cared for. The property is beautiful. The owners give the tours and you can interact with the goats and even try their fresh milk and cheese afterwards. The owners are SO kind you can tell they really love what they do and they really love these goats. The goats are very friendly and there is a big Llama who watches over them like they are her children. I cannot rate this experience enough. We went in the winter but now that it's summer we're planning to go back :)

D'Arcy and Gina were wonderful hosts for our Colorado Staycation and I am so glad we chose the Mountain Goat Lodge and Dairy Goat Farm in Salida. The rooms were spacious and the views unparalleled. If you enjoy star gazing like I do, the night skies are luminous with stars. The animals at the farm are all loved like pets. I overheard Gina speaking to the vet about their 18 year old Llama, insisting that she receive the best of care, despite her advanced age. Because they are so well loved, the animals return the favor, by offering up the very best goat milk and eggs. We absolutely loved the breakfasts, which always included a bowl of fresh goat milk yogurt with fruit, followed by a delicious main dish and accompanied by gourmet coffees. Before we left I let Gina know what a fabulous chef she was, better than the best restaurants we had tried in Salida! We will be back for sure... Sooner rather than later, as I need to replenish my supply of goat cheese. The best I have ever tasted!

I checked in late at 10. 219 for room and 20 extra for dogs. In the morning I took dogs outside. There were two dogs off leash, one inside, one outside. When I walked back inside, my dog went to the dining area, and barked a couple times because it was a strange environment. He came right when I called him. As I walked up the stairs, she said in a tone that sounded like it was for one of her goats, "Leash on"! then an exasperated sigh like I committed some kind of horrible act. The attitude and tone were cranky and rude. I expect something different. To add to it she proceeded to talk about me to the other guests! Calling me toxic and aggressive. You have no privacy, everything can be heard through the walls Very unprofessional! I did not have any desire to interact with this woman afterwards. I did not take breakfast, or take any else in.
