You have to stop in frequently if you want something specific but I love the thrill of the hunt. They have a good mix of used and new stuff mostly because they can't keep enough donations in stock. They have a good markdowns system so if it's been hanging around for awhile, you are getting a knock out deal. I got an organic cotton t-shirt for $5.Even better, they are community run and all profits are donated locally.

I stopped in on a recent trip to Colorado hoping to purchase 2 pairs of used trekking poles that I planned on gifting back to them before returning home. There was one pair of used poles, but those were priced comparably to new poles. The new poles in inventory seemed very expensive so I ended up going to Wal-Mart and paying $20 per pair.

YES YES YES!!! Best way to describe this hidden gem, well somewhat hidden. We took the off chance of this place and could not have been happier. Zach was busy with someone else but did acknowledge us in between customers. Both him and Becca ended up helping us, literally giving us one on one personal help. Other than helping other people, not even a minor complaint, we were more than satisifed walking put with our large purchase. They were friendly and very knowledgable with camping. One thing that surprised us was Zach and my husband literally put together a couple tents in store to see how we would like them. We also got to lay inside several sleeping bags to get an awesome one. My backpack fit with Becca was freaking phenomenal and she was really patient and willing to listen to what I need and adjusting when I needed it. I really don't know what else positive to say. The whole experience was over the top.Cons: besides street parking, didn't see any other parking, nothing else came as a con.Recommended? I don't need to say anything but YES! Do not pass this store up for any reason.

This store has amazing deals... Sometimes OVERPRICED . I give it one star because the customer service is no existing !!!! I purchased items marked 50% off and when I was about to pay the cashier he " forgot " about the discount and when I pointed it out he failed to apologize and blamed his SIGNIFICANT mistake on the fact that he was in a hurry........ I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE STORE and it was way before closing time!!!! Also he did not provide me with a bag ( I purchased a kid skiing suit and two pairs of gloves ) because ... Quote " our bag are very small". So any time you purchase anything on sale once the item is scanned the discount is not automatically applied and since the employees do not pay attention to that, make sure YOU do!!!Great deal but very rude and unprofessional!!!!

Mountain Equipment Recyclers in Colorado Springs is one of the City's best Hiking, Climbing and Outdoor gear shops. The selection is always changing with the seasons and the service/employees have always been great whenever I get the need to pick up some gear or clothing for a trip. The selection is mostly recycled gear that is lightly used and a whole lot cheaper than retail prices for the same gear brand new, as well as a smaller new section that is still much less expensive than the other major chain outdoor stores! The website keeps a pretty good update of the current inventory in the store but, it's still better to go for a visit, browse and talk with the folks working to see what they recommend.

I brought in my older Mountain Bike for an upgrade of brakes. I asked if I needed a tune up as well. After a quick inspection the gentleman said a full tune-up was not required, that he would tighten up the headset for no additional charge. Friendly and very knowledgable staff. Super reasonably priced too!

This is probably my favorite store in all of Colorado! Before you visit any other high end, outdoor equipment shop, check out this place! All the best brands (arcteryx, Patagonia, northface, Black diamond, etc.) for half the price! Whether it's skiing equipment, mountaineering, ice climbing, biking, or just hiking in general, they've got the stuff! All the employees are super nice and very helpful, every single time I visit... thank you guys for this incredible place, count me in as a lifetime customer!P.S. I was not paid or asked to leave this review, in fact I do not even know a single employees name... I just really, really love this place and encourage everyone to visit!

These people will go out of their way to help you whether it's bike-related or with retail. And...you support a great cause! I've had only good experiences here over the years.
