Fantastic visit. A bit tricky to find, but well worth the search. Mr Mijares is extremely knowledgeable and helped get my son's viola back on track.

I originally gave this company a 3 because of the hours and parking. It is not easy to see the Maestro but after finally finding time to see him, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a neat old shop. The violin master was a treasure to be found. He is knowledgeable and caring. so much so, I felt the need to be his friend. Go here and talk to the violin doctor. He is a really neat guy and knows what he is doing.

Great little shop downtown Colorado Springs with string instruments and repairs adorning the shop. It reminded me of Geppetto's work shop where Pinocchio might have been created. Brought a used violin in that was to be used for beginning lessons for my 8 yr old daugher. Repairs and improvements were made masterfully and at reasonable cost. I felt that the priority was to improve the violin to give my daughter the best chance to be successful in her journey to learn to play a string instrument. Would highly recommend Mijares Violins & Repairs.

Mr. Mijares provides excellent quality work for very reasonable prices. I've taken all of our differently-sized and aged violins to him and he's always done a fantastic job. Once, when we had an immediate bridge emergency, he even did the repair in the time it took us to grab an ice cream nearby. I trust him with my finest instruments and would heartily recommend him. He can also give great advice regarding finding local teachers.

Hands down the best stringed instrument shop in the Colorado Springs area. A little gem tucked in an alley off Tejon St., Mijares may seem out of the way, but it's well worth a visit. The shop is not on the street front but rather in the alley between Bijou and Kiowa. Turn off Tejon between Brown's Shoe Fit Company and First Commercial Bank, then take your next right in the alleyway and the shop entrance is the second building on the right. There is parking right in front of the shop and the shop front is well marked. The interior is cozy, with comfortable couches and chairs and a lovely selection of violins, violas, cellos, and bows. I was in Colorado Springs over the holidays visiting family and decided to try area shops looking to upgrade my beginner's violin. I had been looking at other music shops in town and was discouraged by the limited choices, poor quality, and expense. I had found an instrument I sort of liked that I could sort of afford when I heard about Mijares and decided to give it a try. Mr. Mijares was very attentive to my wishes and needs. I told him what I was looking for and the type of sounds I prefer, and he showed me a large variety of instruments that fit the bill and allowed me space and as much time as I'd like to try them out and see how each played. He met the perfect balance between checking in to give me different violins to try and put those I didn't like away and giving me room to breathe and play and focus on finding the right instrument for me. When asked, he gladly provided his opinion on sound, and also was kind enough to play several violins for me so I could hear what they sounded like at a distance. When I found a violin I really loved I was concerned it would be out of my price range, but it was very reasonably priced, as were all the violins I'd tried. He also took my beginner's instrument on trade, which was great, and gave me a discount on the new instrument in exchange. Not only did I get a lovely violin at a good price, but I didn't have to go through the hassle of trying to sell my beginner's instrument. The violin I found at Mijares is far better than the violins I tried at other music stores in the Springs, and was also more affordable!I had a great experience at Mijares' shop and I will definitely visit again in the future should my violin ever need repairs.
