The trail was shaded for the most part and very beautiful. Average time for us was 2h 30 minutes with a baby in our hiking backpack. Saw a few cool caves!

Nice trail, about five miles all the way around. Mostly shaded, which is a big plus when the sun is blazing but could be chilly as the climate decreases. The trail is beautiful right now with the first touches of fall - lots of vibrant yellows and oranges. It isn't a difficult trail per say, but there are some steep inclines if you veer left at the loop sign "Lovell Gulch Trail 3 3/4". If you go right, it's a bit easier. I downloaded "All Trails" so I could track how far on the trail I was. Good service throughout the park. Trail is pet-friendly. You can have your pup off a leash IF well-behaved. Just be mindful as I had a couple of dogs come running up to mine with their owner chasing them down yelling "he's friendly". Luckily everything was smooth but you never know so if you have a shy or aggressive dog, just keep this in mind.

This is my favorite go to trail for an off leash experience that is just a half hour outside of Colorado Springs. Everyone in the trailers friendly, personable, and they're like me to enjoy the spectacular views and landscape. A must see for well behaved off leash dogs and their owners. It's just outside of Woodland Park.
