We found the Holden House last year on a whim and loved it. This year we are back to celebrate our anniversary. We got the Independent suite and we're pleased to see it was much bigger than the main house rooms. It has 2 rooms, one of which has a king bed and fireplace. The other is a sitting room which also has the oval tub, shower, and sink. The commode is house in a room of its own. They offer En Suite breakfast, which we enjoy, as well as a wine social from 5 to 7.If you're looking for Victorian charm and a romantic getaway, this is the place. Just know, it is surrounded by private homes, so no breath taking views are included.

For a first b&b experience, these folks set the standard high. Incredibly friendly hospitality (aside from the two cats who clearly could tell we are dog people), charming & spacious accommodations (sitting room, eat-in kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom with balcony complete with table & chairs), very quiet neighborhood... I could go on. A few highlights:Incredibly comfortable bed/bedding.Delicious breakfast of quiche & homemade muffins, fruit bowl with kiwi, apple, pear, watermelon, honey dew, banana, & blueberries topped with vanilla yogurt & a touch of granola, and wonderful coffee.A parking lot that is within view of most rooms.Quiet neighborhood close to both downtown CO Springs & Manitu Springs.A wine social to mingle with other guests upon check in.A collection of DVDs to borrow during your stay.Romance packages that include a dozen picture perfect roses, a bottle of champagne, breakfast en suite, and bubble bath.Owners that live in the next house over, should you need anything when staff has left for the evening. We'll return, no doubt. You should visit too.

Made our Anniversary awesome.I wasn't sure what to expect of the Springs, but Old Colorado City (which we were in or near) is pretty cool. The hosts were amazing and the breakfast both days were great. Location wise, it's in a nice pretty quiet neighborhood, with lots of great food within walking distance. We had a nice little apartment on the top floor of the house next door. My wife read on the porch each morning. There was a nice little living room to relax in and a small kitchen for coffee. Almost wish we had been staying a week!We met some very nice folks as well, which is always the risky part of B&Bs, you never know who'll be there. We lucked out.

This was my boyfriend's first B&B experience and it was awesome! First, thank you so much for the cats as we missed ours at home. We looked for them every time we came to the main house and were not disappointed! I apologize for instilling any bad behavior in Mei-Lin by letting her sit on my lap during breakfast, I promise I drew the line at her eating my food!!The food was amazing - many thanks for accommodating my vegan diet, and yes, the pancakes were the best ever! It was the weekend of Snowmaggedon, so we had to stay in more than we originally planned, but the movie selection was excellent and the staff was so nice. The room was beautiful and the bed was beyond comfortable. The neighborhood was adorable with all the Victorian homes. We tested you, and much to our delight, the cookies WERE bottomless! YUM!!

My husband and I decided to start the new year with a little R&R, and we could not have chosen a better place for it! We had the Aspen Room which had a lovely gas fire place right near the bed that was truly cozy with the windy cold weather we had. The breakfasts were super delicious, always consisting of a fruit bowl, fresh warm muffins, and an entree. It was enough food to fill you up for the day! We also made good friends with the house guests Mei-Ling and Muffin which were some of the most friendliest kitties we have met. I highly recommend this place! With the lovely rooms and wine social every evening, this place is a bargain!

An excellent place for me and my wife to unwind and celebrate in luxury for the holidays. The inn-keepers are very personable and make an excellent breakfast complete with the evening wine and snacks. Our room was very lovely for a "cozy Christmas stay" , my wife and I couldn't feel more relaxed and welcome to Colorado Springs.

This place is nightmarish! I wish I had better news. Overall, this place is pretentious without having the luxury to back it up.For example, you are greeted with Fritos on a crystal serving dish while behind the table sits a creepy doll in a highchair with a tea cup in front of it (probably full of blood). Stephen King would have loved this place...however my husband and I didn't. We were squashed away in a attic, which they call the Goldfield Suite, but make no mistake it is a glorified attic. There is about 4 feet by 4 feet clearance in this place, the rest of the time you have to walk around hunched over. The skylight that was boasted for stargazing has a tree and chimney blocking three quarters of the view. The bathtub they boast about being new is an ADA nightmare. I'm a limber 30 year old and even I scraped my back (on the ceiling!) trying to get out of it. I can't imagine a couple in there not slipping and severely hurting themselves. It's truly a liability on the inn's behalf. Their towels were musty and the whole suite was stuffy. Now, let me explain to you how this place is very creepy. I know B&B's have charm and an antique vibe--that's why we loving staying in B&B's, but this place has a 7 foot stuff bunny in the common room. When I asked what was up with the giant bunny the innkeeper, trying to be funny, said "oh you can see it?". That's not comforting, lady! I get it's from a movie or something, but I feel the general consensus is that it is disturbing. Across from the bed was a picture of an old lady along with a crusty old curling iron and perfume bottle. I'm sure these curios are meant to be endearing but it just felt too personal and weird to have across from the bed, in an attic. As I told my husband: I felt like i was in someone's haunted granny attic but I was paying for it. The innkeeper promised to bring us ice but never did, and didn't offer to help up with bags but seemed like she had good intentions. After a sleepless night we called the innkeeper and told them I felt unwell (because I felt like I needed holy water and an actual night of sleep) and that we wanted to check out a day early. The owner was conveniently not working on the weekend but we left a note for her to call us (which she did literally a week later). When my husband respectfully explained that we felt the room wasn't advertised correctly and that some of the decor was off-putting to strangers she just kept saying "this isn't the Hilton" and then eventually just started shrieking at him. We weren't wanting wifi, a pool, and valet. We just wanted to be able to walk around in our room and bathe. My advice? Skip this one. Even if we were in a different room I would say the place was overall run down and didn't meet the standards of what they boast about. This will go down in the books as a good story, but in the moment it completely ruined our trip. I purposely waited a whole month to see if my mind changed before writing this review, and it hasn't.

This is such a lovely place for a vacation or quick get away. Beautiful accomodations and an absolutely delicious breakfast. We stayed in the Pikes Peak Suite and it was so beautiful! The staff was amazing.
