Also goes by Hound Hill Dog Park. This park is ok. It is on the smaller side but it does have shade trees, water stations, some benches and trash cans throughout. My dogs are bigger and need more room to run however. Important things:There are "regulars" (humans) who tend to gather in the middle area to chat which can mean they are not watching their dogs closely. Always pick up your dogs poop! There are plenty of trash cans and poop bags throughout the park. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the park, make sure your a dog is leashed the whole time.Heritage Regional Park is extremely busy in the summer (hundreds of soccer games every weekend) parking lot may be full.

Dog park area: This is an ok spot to bring your dog. There is a decent amount of room for the pups to run, lots of parking, and the location is great. However, it is sadly extremely common for people to bring unneutered and poorly mannered male dogs, who want to hump everything in sight. Since this is my go-to spot when crunched for time, I have seen a tremendous number of nearly-horrible situations, mostly caused by owners who haven't spent the time socializing or training their dogs. There is also an issue of mud. Forget about coming here when the snow is melting or after a rain. It is MUDDY. The dog park is sloped and the entrance is at the bottom of the hill, and so a lot of the water collects there. There is also no grass or gravel. All in all, it's a decent place to go, but I prefer Glendale open space because there is more room for the dogs to spread out, it's normally much drier even after the snow melts, and has a real walking path.

This is the first dog park I've been to, so I'm not sure what to compare to. So far, my dog loves it. Lots of room for dogs to run around. Plenty of benches to sit. Water bowls, doggie bags, and balls are provided. No complaints! :)

Dear Highlands Ranch,Pathetic... Absolutely pathetic. This is what tax dollars are used for? I didn't realize a mud pit for dogs was a public service. I don't get why there wasn't at least gravel thrown down. If you're bringing your dog I highly suggest muck boots and a couple towels so your pooch doesn't trash the car.

The dog park is wonderful. Great space with a nice little walk around path (4 laps is one mile) if you want to get some exercise in. Can get a little dusty when the dogs are all running around but nothing to crazy. There are a couple shaded areas and trees! Lots of dogs all sizes and types. The big dogs do great with the little dogs and vise versa ....My yorkie loves it! Owners are very hands on as every now and than a little scuffle but nothing ever serious.( playing to hard!) The people are all very nice as well as the dogs! It's also nice to stroll around the beautiful park!! Love love love!

I enjoy this park for the summer concert series. They have really lost their grip with keeping up with the grass needs. Most of the grass on the hill is dead and brown, which makes it kinda yucky.During the concerts parking can be a pain.

It's okay. No grass. I think too many dogs and people go here so it's impossible to keep any grass growing. I like that they put shades up in the summer. The people who visit the park are always nice. Safe and easily accessible.

This is a terrific park, with an excellent playground, trails, dog park, lots of soccer fields and lots of space to park and play. The grounds are pretty and from the top of the highest hill, you'll have a great view of the mountains. In the summer they hold free outdoor concerts here and you can bring a picnic and enjoy the music. If you walk around the large loop there are also areas with outdoor weight training exercise equipment installed, which is hydraulic, so it's somewhat adjustable depending on your difficulty needs. My kids and I have spent many hours at this park. My kids play on the playground, and I get a little workout in on the exercise equipment located just next to it. Our dog friends love this park, too!

So the main reason I come here is for the dog park. My big old dog loves to make lots of friends and he runs around and gets energy out. It's nice because it's an opportunity for him to make friends and play with dogs his size (his sisters are less than 20lbs, he is about 80.) the other dogs/owners are nice and there are tennis balls, poop bags, trash cans, and water bowls. (In the winter, the water pumps in the park don't run, so definitely bring some water for your dog)
