I stopped by with my son the other day after getting his haircut. It was a really fun way to spend an hour looking through the windows of the buildings. It's free. I don't know if you can schedule tour or something so you can go inside or get a little bit more history from the docent, but if you're just looking to spend some time looking around, it's a good way to do it. The park surrounding of the Heritage Center is really nice. My son definitely wished we had brought his bike and sunscreen so we could have stayed longer!

Lakewood's Heritage Center - A 20th Century Museum is such a wonderful little hidden gem!++ They offer some wonderful programming including neighborhood block parties, art exhibitions, cider festivals, and more!++ There's a few buildings that they have moved in (or salvaged) from various parts of Lakewood and restored to their former glory! Love the little glimpse back in time you get moving through them.++ The staff here are sooo very knowledgeable about the history of Lakewood. You can tell that they're really passionate about the preservation of it!++ As other reviewers mentioned - there's ample parking (until you're there for a bigger event). So arrive early!Such a great way to not just learn, but experience some local history! Even better when you can check Lakewood's Heritage Center - A 20th Century Museum out during an event!

What a fun place to spend an afternoon. We came for the German Festival. Was a bit less festive then I imagined but fun nevertheless. The grounds are actually set up pretty good for events of this nature. Great lawn/stage area for bands and entertainment. Not as many Vendors as I had imagined. Actually I thought a fest would be more then 2 food vendors and a beer guy and a kona ice truck. The center itself is really fascinating with the amount of things they have for you to look at in the museum. I found it really interesting to see old signs and different things from the town of Lakewood's history. Hopefully I will have more opportunities to stop at this location. Plenty of parking as well. Keep an eye out for events.

The volunteers were so cute. They worked really hard to keep the kids interested on the field trip. All the vintage stuff was really fun to see too.

My boyfriend and I have driven by this place a zillion times, and always meant to stop. So, we finally drove in to see what was what.I like the vibe of this place. It's kind of tucked back from the road, so you have to follow the signs. The museum section (free) is a neat little exhibit showing the history of Lakewood. They have some cool stuff on display, and for someone who knows little to nothing of Lakewood, it was cool to get a glimpse into the history of the city. They have a number of old buildings around the very large property, most of which they have restored. You can take a walking tour for $5, or, if you get there at an off time like we did, you can just grab a brochure and walk around the grounds at your leisure, for free. When you take the walking tours, though, you get to actually enter the buildings to check them out.The woman who was working there spent some time with us, explaining what the site was all about, and was really friendly and informative. They have a number of events throughout the year, which we will return for (Cider Days!). They even have an amphitheater where they hold shows, and you can rent it out for events.A nice way to spend an afternoon. I'll definitely return for a walking tour, as some of the buildings looked pretty cool.Oh, and the gift shop is really, really awesome. A huge mishmash of toys a lot of people will remember from their childhood, and an eclectic mix of various decorations. Hard to describe, but definitely a fun store to walk through.

Great spot for an art show! There's plenty of parking, space to set up some light bites for patrons, and most importantly a spacious room for exhibiting photography.

We come every year for Lakewood Cider Days and the Hard Cider tasting. The grounds are large with a good amount of parking (except around big festivals but that's to be expected). For Cider Days, there are always a ton of events and fun things going on but really the hard cider tasting, run by the Rocky Mountain Hard Cider Association, is the highlight. There are so many awesome cideries with great ciders to try. Plus the glassware is fun for use all year round. But get your tickets early! There are limited spaces for the tasting both days!

I went here for the first time last night to see Hazel Miller. The staff is friendly but it took forever to get through the line to get my tickets scanned on my phone. The person accepting tickets was having a heck of a time using the scanner. That really slowed down the line to get people in the door. Why only one scanner when there are so many people? It pays to be a season ticket holder just to get through the line faster. Or is that their ploy? Ha! The venue is beautiful. I've been to plenty of outdoor concerts. I loved that you are able to go on stage and dance. How fun! The food trucks and alcohol beverage options were great and they were all very organized. What I didn't like was that there was no structure to place your chairs, nor do they have a height limit. I think that people should have low chairs or blankets like at Hudson Gardens. I also think they should chalk lines so people will be more structured. When you need to use the restroom or need to go to the food trucks, it was a complete obstacle course to get out of your "row." It was very unorganized. I wish it would have been a little more clearly defined. Other than that, the night was perfect, the staff was very friendly, and the acoustics in the place were great.

In one of the peaks of Lakewood's Heritage Center-A 20th Century Museum is the observatory, which dominates virtually every view of CO and surrounding areas. The tour is ideal as a counterpoint to the immensity of cement city to contact and view geography mountains and sea city and to recognize each sector of the city that one is visiting.

We made a reservation online for today, but when we arrived, the indoor museum was closed. I recommend speaking to someone to confirm, if you make a reservation. But the outdoor exhibits are accessible, and loads of fun, such as the Estes Motel, the diner, and the 5-and-dime.
