At the corner of Quincy and Kippling streets is Harriman lake park, A primitive park with a dirt parking lot and a hardscrabble gravel trail that encompasses the lake. Few to no shade tress, grassy areas, benches or any other other amenities. Best time to come here is in the early morning hours in the summer since it gets very hot and there are no restrooms or drinking fountains.

This park is awesome. I've driven past it a dozen times without noticing, but the very same weekend we got a dog, I also noticed that there was a sweet lake with a trail around it, right on the corner of Kipling and Quincy. 1.5 miles of dirt path (which can get muddy, so be ready) around a lake/wetland. Countless kinds of birds hold residence and vacation at this lake--there's always something to see.The trail is pretty much flat, so it's easy to do the loop twice without feeling tired at all. It's not super busy, and everyone I've run into there has been quite friendly. This is a great destination for when the pup is in need of a walk, but I'm feeling too lazy for hills.

Great location to take a nice walk. The loop is 1.45 miles and it is a wide gravel road. One side is quiet however the other side is open by the highway so it can be a little noisy. There were both walkers and bikers on this trail. Also, plenty of fish in the lake and fishing is allowed! It is also dog friendly, I will be taking mine next time. It's a lovely walk; I highly recommend!

I lived near this lake from the 1970s to the 1990s, back when it was completely fenced off from public access. Now the area around the lake has been turned into a nice recreation area, featuring a perimeter path that is about a mile and a half long, similar to nearby Clement Park. Harriman is however a rustic cousin of Clement, with the unpaved dirt path consisting (mostly) of an old access road going around the lake, so the path is generally wide but can turn muddy after rain or snowmelt. The best thing about walking this path is the chance to see lots of birds, especially at the east end, with my personal favorite being the Great Blue Heron. The parking lot can be accessed only from southbound Kipling. Fishing is allowed from the lake shore.
