New MENU & new management! Now serving Honduran and Mexican dishes! We had been to this location years ago, but saw they have new owners and good reviews, so we wanted to try them again. The location is somewhat hidden, being in a strip center on Murray just south of East Platte. Don't judge this place by the façade - the food and service are excellent! We entered the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the clean and colorful decor and seating. A young woman, Leyri, greeted, seated, and served us. She was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. There were a couple of glitches. For one, their drink machine was out of order so only bottled drinks were available. And no iced tea. So we had water. I'm sure this will be rectified soon. Also, when Leyri brought the menus, she explained that this was a new menu and that the QR code on the table linked to the old menu. When I noted there were no prices on the new menu, she went and made a quick list of their most popular dishes and their prices for us. (Note: chips and salsa are not available.)My husband immediately decided on the chicken fajitas, by which he judges many restaurants. I decided to try one of the Honduran appetizers, the tortillas con Casillo as well as a couple of the Mexican tacos with Asada (these were what I normally call Street tacos). The food, when it arrived, looked at smelled amazing. All the ingredients were very fresh and colorful. And the taste of everything was delightful. My husband thought the fajitas may have been some of his favorites in town. He had a bite of my appetizer and thought it tasted good as well. I loved the Honduran appetizer - Tortillas con Quesillo (2 handmade tortillas with cheese in the middle. Served with cabbage, pico de gallo, tomato sauce and dressing with cheese on top). Each Mexican taco only cost three dollars, but they were delicious. Each taco was comprised of 2 corn tortillas and a lot of meat, cilantro, and onions, accompanied by a green sauce, which was delicious as well.My husband's fajitas were served with rice, beans & cheese, pico de gallo, and both red and green sauces. The red was very spicy and very tasty. The Green was perfect as a slightly milder sauce, and I enjoyed it on my tacos.Leyri was a wonderful server, checking back on us frequently and bringing whatever we asked for. When we received the check, I was shocked at how inexpensive the meal had been especially for the amount of food we received. I can't wait to return and try more of the delicious food here at Hacienda Vera.

I was excited to try a new Mexican restaurant....My first clue should've been that it was completely empty on a Saturday night. I ordered the al pastor tacos and was so happy when they arrived....until I tasted that garbage. It has 10x the amount of salt any food should ever have. It was awful. I took one bite and could not eat anymore. I told the waitress and she took it away explaining that "el jefe" made all the meat(s) in the morning and everything was salty. Won't be back ever. Should've gone to a taco truck.

New Owner!! The food is great. The place needs to be remodeled but they are working on it. Got the Cameron's A la Diablo and it was delicious. The carnita tacos were scrumptious. The service is a bit slow, but they are working on it. The server was delightful. Give them a shot! The owner is a great guy and really wants to provide people with great food in a nice environment. He serves guatemalan food on the weekends, go check it out! This pictures don't do the food justice.

ITS A MARKET? No, WAIT, they serve food cuz I see colorful chairs and tables and booths. Ripped up booths make for uncomfortable seating, so we found one in good shape. Place was fairly empty for a Friday evening, which surprised me, but after looking around at the decor, I wouldn't want to dwell here as it just wasn't classy. Too much clutter stuff everywhere. And coated in dust too. A sweet young man took his sweet time to finally ask what we wanted to drink. Their soda machine wasn't working and they didn't serve skinny margaritas so I stuck with water. Took a while to serve us drinks and we had to ask for chips and salsa instead of it immediately being served. The salsa was really watery and bland but the tortilla chips were AMAZING!! Guacamole bowl with those amazing tortilla chips ALL. DAY. LONG. But the guacamole had no spice so I requested they add chopped jalapeños and then it was almost perfect. (Maybe a tad more garlic would have been better.) My hubby's "Perfect Margarita" was darn good! Our orders came out on huge platters which looked like they weigh a ton, which they did. Oh My Gosh! Our food was piping hot and I will say that I loved my marinated steak, didn't care for the chicken enchilada, and my rellano was a tiny chile dunked in a ton of batter with barely any cheese inside. The rice and beans was tasty and the salad was a nice touch, but it was like a hit and a miss dinner. Some items good other items not so good. Our server Jesus would disappear for long breaks and it boggled me because it was fairly empty for a Friday and he wasn't dressed like a server. Just some high school kid in jeans and a jacket. Not very professional. Honestly, I'd rather go somewhere which was far more aesthetically pleasing than come back to this messy clutter bomb. Sad. They could do soooo much better!

Is it a restaurant or a store? Maybe focus on one or the other. Service was fast because I'm the only one here. And now I know why haha. They have lots of To-go orders but I can't understand why. They don't make their own margs, all out of a mix. I ordered the chimichanga with shredded beef and the Chili Verde for $2 more I'd expect more then a dollop of sauce. The chimi was soggy with pre shredded cheese outside and inside. Very few beans and meat inside. After 5 bites I had to stop just not good. Salsa was pure onion with the chips. Only positive I have is I haven't got sick yet.

If you know, then you know...This is a two in one mexican venue. Meaning you get a souvenir shop and great food all in one place. The shop has Mexican attire, toys, decor and accessories. I often travel to Mexico for work. I can tell you now the merchandise is marked at price or lower! They have unique gifts and handmade Mexican items! My kids loved shopping for Christmas gifts as we waited for our food. The food is delicious...it did not disappoint. The customer service was really good. You can tell this family owned business takes pride in their establishment. We will continue to give this restaurant business, and recommend it.

Hacienda Villarreal is a small mom and pop type of restaurant. You seat yourself and are greeted almost immediatly. Our server was very nice and attentive, but seemed to be handling many jobs. This restaurant like many seems to be suffering from the lack of employees. Our food was really good and served really fast. They are very reasonably priced. I loved the friendly atmosphere. I will definitely visit again when in the area.
