Bull snake - not poisonous
A bull snake across the trail. They have the markings of a Rattlesnake, but no rattle on the end of their tail.

Green Mountain in Lakewood (not to be confused with the one 20 miles north in Boulder), is an awesome playground of running, biking, hiking, and mostly going up and down hills. This is a sprawling hill carved with many unique gullies and ridges. Parking is handy at the Alameda Trailhead for me, and I like to walk right up the main trail. It's well packed and wide, but a bit steep. Bikers take caution going down! Hiking up is strenuous but not difficult. Excellent workout!Once you gain the top, there are plenty of dirt trails to go explore. In the summer, there are so many wildflowers up here! Snow and mud can linger in spots. You get great 360 degree views of Denver, the front range, and all around!

Great easier open space hike used by hikers, bikers, runners dog walkers...you name it.Nice parking lot.The main trail up is a nice switchback trail that gets you about 1200 feet of elevation climb. Just keep your eyes peeled for mountain bikers zooming down....to be honest all the bikers were incredibly polite.Fantastic views of Lakewood and Downtown Denver. Can get really windy at the top so take extra layers.

This trail is less than ten minutes from my partner's house and it's been a route we've frequented multiple times. Although parking is on the same side of Dinosaur Ridge Trail, the trail itself is on the other side of the highway.Once you park, you'll have one last chance to use a bathroom before you go up the trail and take the bridge over the highway. There are so many routes for you to embark on and every time we go, we make sure to take a different route and get lost in nature. Some routes have a steeper incline as others are more gradual and easier on the knees. The views once you get to the very top are astounding and serene. This is one trail everyone has to try at least once.Trails are share friendly, so you'll see folks running, hiking, bicyclists, and dog walkers.

Came here on an evening hike with my partner right before the winter solstice. Will have to do it again to see the sights during the day (as well as explore the Dinosaur Ridge side of this area) but the view of all the city lights at the summit was stunning. Decent-sized parking lot when you enter. Wasn't busy at all when we were there. Moderate 6.4 miles of switchbacks, perfect for training if you're a runner. Dog and kid-friendly. Interesting trail, being immersed in nature while still surrounded by city sounds.

This hike was pretty easy and was a nice hike to do in a couple hours. There isn't any shade so prepare for that when doing the hike. Not too crowded and enough space in the parking lot.

My wife and I did the 6.7 mile Green Mountain Trail loop. We are avid hikers but usually at sealevel, so the elevation differential was challenging even though the trail itself was fairly easy. We started in Parking Lot 3 and went to the right.Cool vistas and a loop made this a great morning. Would definitely do it again, but would wait for a less soggy trail day!

So close to home and challenging enough for a short or longer hike. There are 2 parking lots that I know of. One is off of Alameda and is quite small and has a Porta-Potty. The other lot is off of Rooney Road and is larger with permanent bathrooms. There are a few bicycle tools there for the mountain bikers. You do have to share the trails! I had to give 4 stars because: there are no distances for each trail on the trail markers/signs or the master trail map. And because the mountain bikers have become snobs that don't even announce when they come upon hikers on the trail. All you need to say is "Rider-up," as a courtesy to the hikers you are supposed to yield to. We saw a non-venomous Bull snake cross the trail. They have the markings of a Rattlesnake, but no rattle on the end of their tail.

This is a great trail for hiking and mountain biking. It's nice and open so once you get to the top you have views of the surrounding area, including Red Rocks and downtown Denver. Great place to come to and get some exercise in and fresh air!
