Great Sand Dunes Oasis

Restaurant- food was mediocre at best, staff was more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving customers after we were seated & orders were taken. RV park- nice playground & outdoor game area (corn hole, connect 4) but lots of goatheads in that area. Nothing special but served the purpose of being very close to Great Sand Dunes NP for a couple days of exploring. They don't have online reservations so you do have to call. They have a store & sand board/sled rentals which is handy since there isn't any rentals in the NP.

Food and service were good. This is your best food option when visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park.

Luckily we had read that they don't rent sand boards/ sleds in the park so we stopped here on our way in. They are located about 4 miles south of the park entrance. It was not too crowded when we arrived by 9:30am so getting the board was relatively easy. The instructions for riding and waxing were straightforward. $21 seemed reasonable for a whole day rental. Given it had rained the night before the conditions for sledding were less than optimal but we still had a few good runs. Climbing the hills of sand is truly the limiting factor.Returning the board was quick even though there was a long line of people waiting to rent a board. Overall a unique experience worth doing once!

Be careful with your credit card info. They ask for your credit card info as a deposit for the sand boards. Same day I had fraud on my account. My bank told me my card was being linked to a new phone for purchases and two purchases totaling $1000 had already been posted. 100% sketchy. Do business somewhere else or block your card before providing info.

First off, there is no internet, and if you are looking for coddling, you are at the wrong place, but if you want to set up your RV and then stop and look around and be awed, this is your place! It is quite close to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and the staff are friendly. Loved it!

Great location right on the way into Great Sand Dunes. We rented 2 sand boards for my son and his friend to use. The boards are due back by 6pm. So consider that when planning your day.We rented around 3pm and they had a lot of boards available. They give you wax for the boards to use and give detailed directions on how to apply it.I recommend you really look at the board you receive. My son's was in great shape and moved really good on the sand. His friend's board looked very worn on the bottom (pic attached)and it didn't move nearly as well. They ended up having to share my son's. Next time if they tried to give us one in bad shape again, I think I'd ask for another. I also felt like it appeared that the people we saw on the dunes with sleds moved faster than boards. In hindsight, I wished I had rented a sled and board. So they could try both. I definitely think if you snowboard it would help you sandboard. They do have some lodging and food, we did not take advantage of either of these, so I can't comment on those.

Rented sand sled / board for $20 / day (first come, first serve), and delicious ice cream for after. Hello - salted caramel espresso and mint n chip. So good we went back 2 days in a row! Super safe and friendly staff. No dine in currently - no Mask, no service enforced.

This is the closest private RV park near the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the only one for 30 miles.1st tip: reservations are very helpful if you are wanting a RV spot. The spots are little close, but doable. They are all pull through spaces with easy exiting. Road up & complete site is gravel & bumpy, so please drive slow. This helps keep the dust down. Showers & restrooms were clean, plenty of hot water, & good pressure. Understand all the RVs, cabins, & camp sites use the same building. I still had no problems because I shower early in the evening. Only negative was people driving down from camps even at 11PM to shower. There is a nice small playground for kids, but no dog run/fenced area. The staff live on site which helps keep the stupidity out. The store really helps due to the 30+ Mile drive to the nearest town. No large lights outside which helps with seeing stars. Shower area has orange lights under eves to keep down light pollution. Please keep your RV outside lights off to let everyone enjoy the night skies.2nd Tip: don't expect to check in early, they are pretty set on this.FYI: dogs must be on leash & cannot be left tied up outside. Misbehaving dogs or kids can get you removed. Only big negative is people walking through RV sites from cabins & tent sites to use facilities. There is no pathway for them. This is very annoying, causes dogs to bark, they do it late into the night, right next to picnic table, stepping over water hoses/sewer lines/electric cords.

DO *NOT* RENT BOARDS FROM THESE CROOKS! After spending $100 on overpriced convenience items we rented 3 sleds for the kids to use at Great Sand Dunes NP. After lugging the sleds in my youngest tried to use one on the first tiny dune and the board became delaminated making it useless and meaning we had to lug it around while the kids shared the other two. Upon returning them, I pointed out that the board didn't even work wince and asked if they could do anything to make it right. The worker just trotted out the "no refunds" sign... a total rip off!

Rented a sled from them they charged me DOUBLE what they were suppose to and refused to give a refund because it was "against their policy" The employees were apologizing for the mistake but the owner refused to make it right. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLEAGUE THEY ARE DISHONESTS, MEAN AND AWFUL!!!
