a car parked in front of the store

Clean, well-lit and organized. Easy to find what I was looking for (minus the fact a 750 of Jack for my husband is nearly $10 more expensive here than the liquor store down the street from us...) but the cashier working today is quite the "oversharer" about her life story. Definitely makes one feel awkward when you get into hearing "my mom stole my kids" and "I have to pay her child support now" and "the only lawyer that is willing to help me wants 6K- how am I supposed to pay that when I'm paying $300+ a month in child support?" While I sympathize, I don't really think it's entirely appropriate to unload on your customers. Even if it's a liquor store. Kinda felt like a deer in the headlights- didn't know how to respond. Perhaps keep the reaaalll personal stuff to your friends and fam, sis?

Went through the drive thru today, the lady that was waiting on customers had 1 person in the store. We waited close to 6 minutes, yes I timed it, when she came to the window she said she had a customer( which we saw walked out with a case of beer) she said that she also bought a ticket. Great....but I was watching her and she was having a LONG talk with the other lady. I would of let this slide but when she came to the window she said "I see you are pissy, but I had another customer" Not very professional. There are a lot of liquor stores in Canon, we have used this one since we came here, need to look for another place or check to see who is working. All the other employees are always friendly, NOT this one.

Beware!!!!!These people are NOT tourist friendly!!! You can purchase the normal run of the mill spirits that you can get anywhere, However, if you do find a premium item you'll have to show a local drivers license. "We only sell that to locals"...

When we pulled into Gateway Liquors I joked with my husband that I was sure they'd have a great selection of wine because it looked like an average corner store. But, the joke was on me friends. Not only did they have a back room dedicated to wine they also had the marvelous wine-cooling machine. A true modern wonder this thing can take a bottle of wine from room temperature to cold in 3 minutes. And while the wine selection wasn't what I'd call overwhelming it was way better than my expectations suggested. They also carry an interesting selection of Colorado beer, some from breweries south and west, as well as interesting liquors also made in Colorado. It's always nice to see small stores that support our state's producers and for that alone I'd give them the four stars. If you find yourself in Canon and in need of some booze this isn't a bad place to make your purchases.

Absolutely horrible service! On Wednesday, July 5th, I stopped in to buy some wine like I have done every 3 to 4 weeks for the last 5+ years. I walked all throughout the store calling "hello, anyone here" then waited at the counter for a couple of minutes. No one was in the store, so I left empty handed. As I was getting into my car, the female sitting and smoking next to the door got up and went inside! Hard to believe, but true. I used to be a smoker so I know how important a "smoke break" is, but to ignore a paying customer? Bad news.Stopped in today, 7/9, to see if the store was ready to sell me some wine. I asked the female who had just walked in from her smoke break if she was the same person who was working Wednesday and she wasn't sure. She shrugged and said "maybe". The guy working with her couldn't care less. Not a problem for me, I'll just go to one of the many places who want to sell me some wine - including grocery stores now.I don't know if the owner of the store cares that he lost a long time, cash paying customer, but, oh, well. . . . .

Gateway is one of my go-to's. Good pricing, owner is nice and most of the staff are friendly (have you ever been to a liquor store where ALL of the staff were friendly? honestly?
