This park used to be so pretty until this summer. Now, parts of the park haven't been watered in a long time and all the nice grass is dead and what has been left is nothing more than dirt. Half of the trees that were planted this spring are dead or dying. It's pathetic!

David T. Garland Park is pretty easy to get to because it's fairly centrally located. Volleyball of the Rockies uses the grass there to host divisions of their coed 4x4 leagues throughout the week from 6pm until dark in the summer time. The grass is okay. There's definitely dandelions and other weeds in it. However, there's an indoor plumbing public bathroom at the park and it also has 4 sand courts! The sand is a bit grainy. If you are serious about training or playing pick-up there, you might wanna bring your own crank to adjust the net height and a rack.

Garland is a wonderful park conveniently located about halfway between downtown and Cherry Creek State Park on the Cherry Creek bike path. It is quite popular with the sporting crowd, as I have seen many events being played or practiced in the park: football, rugby, soccer, ultimate frisbee, softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and, of course, walking, running, and biking.Lollipop Lake (more of a pond, really) attracts ducks, geese, and the lovely red-winged blackbird, as well as those who love to feed them. There are 2 playgrounds and a few picnic tables and grills for your outdoor dining pleasure.I love the beautiful view of the mountains to the West and the pretty flowers on the eastern end of the park. It's fun to start your day with a walk around Garland.

As far as parks go, I wouldn't put this one up there as one of the best, but we do hold lots of volleyball tournaments here and for THAT it is good. There are 4 sand courts where you can play volleyball that are enclosed in a fenced in area (good for keeping the balls near the court). There are portable restrooms available. The grass is really not that great. Lots of brown spots. At certain times of the year though, the "grass" it is almost concrete like and hurts to walk around bare foot. Never seems to be too crowded but I tend to only go here for tournaments where we've rented out the park, so that could be the reason why (the tournament takes over the entire park). It's in a nice and quiet neighborhood.

I give Garland Park two stars. The park itself would have received 3 stars, but the playground deserves 1 star, so 2 for the review. The playground is very small, with a small play structure, three swings, and a little crane shovel thingy. The playground was dirty and there was a lot of graffiti on the structure. Let's just say that I'm glad my son cannot read yet. The parking lot is also set far away from the playgound. I don't know why that bothers me, but it does. Maybe because I couldn't see my car?We will not return to this park as there are numerous other parks in the area that may fare better with their playground and overall layout.

This is one of the more underrated (read: less populated) parks that I have found in Denver. It's not what I would call centrally located so that probably has a lot to do with the relative lack of people here; however, if you live nearby this is a great neighborhood park! I actually live absolutely nowhere close to here but a friend of mine does so sometimes we come here to walk our dogs. I'm always pleasantly surprised by how spacious it seems-- there are several sports fields, volleyball courts, tennis courts, a playground, a pond, and lots of open grassy areas. I was here the other day when there were several sports games going on, and there's so much space that you'd never even realize the games were happening unless you walked right by them. This would be a nice place to come sunbathe during the summer too because there's hardly anyone around! It certainly isn't the most spectacular park in the world, but if you're looking for a less congested option than Wash Park or Cheesman it's worth checking out.

We were immediately greeted by several seasons worth of goose poop in all the grass, in varying stages of decay, creating a swarming insect problem everywhere we went. While we were swatting the bugs, we noted that they chose this spot for a park because of the ugly high tension power lines installed in the general area. We quickly headed back, but had to wait for several cars that did not look park-minded; there must be a sweet short-cut somewhere by going through the park. There appeared to be lots of fields for playing team sports, but I haven't done that since gym class so I can't comment on that. Other commenters have noted that there are few people here. This is true. The only people brave enough for the swarms was a woman being led by three large dogs and an intoxicated homeless gentleman. PS The gender neutral portojon had both obscene political graffiti and also graffiti with helpful hints on portojon maintainance.
