I've always avoided this store for some reason, i just found it off putting.. Then the reviews I've read sealed the deal. So i only went here when i just needed one thing real quick and didn't want to fight rush hour. I did my best to get in and out asap.. To my surprise, they were very polite and friendly. They have some cheap, off brand stuff, but it is clean and organized. My cashier, Ashley was stocking shelves but dropped what she was doing when she saw me headed to the check out line. She seemed genuinely happy to help. I told her i was wary to even shop there, and she told me they have a whole new staff. Idk what was going on before but i didn't have any problem. I found what i needed quick and convenient at a low price.. I think good people make all the difference, so i would recommend this place at this point in time.

I went looking for batteries today. Was browsing trying to make up my mind when an employee asks if they can help me. I asked about some outdoor gloves. Was told they don't carry those. Then he proceeded to ask if I had picked up two packs of batterys. I told him I put one back. He then told me I was being suspicious and behaving like a criminal and then had the nerve to SAY I LOOKED like a criminal. Apparently it is a high crime area and I looked suspicious because of my general mannerisms. I never tried to leave with anything. I was being judged as suspicious while I tried to shop in my neighborhood Dollar General. I put my purchases back and went to Walmart.

I am NOT Helen P. in CA. I am Helen Pierce in Colorado Springs, CO. I live across the street from this store. I've frequented this store for 10+ years! I've witnessed a changing of employees, but all I'd had contact with have been congenial, helpful, very customer oriented and responsive when they do have the people to man the registers. This kind of job is not where career seekers, for the most part, remain unless moving up in advancement. I've worked in customer service myself. I feel fortunate either myself and/or several customers are ALIVE' it IS NOT a dream field and it DOES take a special person to remain w/in congenial guidelines on a 32 hr/wk basis! This store has availed things I've needed and, in fact, Have added inventory to include meats and more quick meal provisions. Someone mentioned they have 'cheap products'....REALLY?! IT's a 'DOLLAR' store. BUT, handy kitchen items, OTC commonly needed medical supplies, beauty items, hygiene, infant needs, party essentials, etc etc. Ya gotta judge w/i the SCOPE of it's purpose. I'm GLAD to HAVE a literal 'life saver' so nearby and, again, in 10 yrs, I have not come across an employee that to myself, nor witnessed towards another customer Anything but cordial, VERY customer responsive, patient, and/or helpful. There are FEW commercial entities that allow customers to use bathrooms, especially retail for obvious reasons! A lower echelon employee CAN'T defy rules/polocies w/o risk to themselves. Mgt judgment call is warranted, but this is not UNIQUE to THIS retail outlet! As well, OTHER CUSTOMERS wld be the one's complaining about "HOMELESS" ppl treading in for singular use of their bathrooms. WHERE IS the line drawn? Be REALISTIC! Please! Pressure IS on manager's to safeguard against theft. yes! Homeless and other ppl DO steal!. NO IDEA what is 'depressing' here either!!! IT's a...STORE.WHAT? Flashing lights n spinning wheels? the clerks ARE ALWAYS BUSY and STILL greet customers w/an acknowledging Hello. THIS is HARD work, Folks! unloading, stocking, registering, helping cusomers who are 'SELF ENTITLED' just a little TOO much! ?? Use common, reasonable sense! It's IS clean...ALWAYS clean. Count your damn BLESSINGS-the pay is NOT a LIVING wage!

Consistently a depressing atmosphere. Not fun to shop in at all. Most of the stuff here is actually more expensive than regular retailers, just in a smaller container or $General store brand. Good points are a large cosmetic dept and lots of cards. Overall, Dollar Tree is cheaper and more cheerful.

the manager is a colossal jerk. !!!!!! avoid this store !!!!!! go to the Safeway on south Nevada and Cheyenne rd its 1 ish milesin the other direction and cheaper. heres what happened so i bought despicable me 2 here it advertised 3 mini movies at the bottom so i bought it $10 about. outside i noticed a 13 min run-time. and upon return the manager, raised his voice and was quite rude and mean as well as dismissive when i said having no actual content is deceptive. i then i threatened not to come back pointing out i shop ther everyday. he then got ruder saying hes got 5+ complaints about me which is totally false because i would be kicked out by then if it were true plus im polite at this point told the guy about my aspurgers that im high functioning (its a autism disorder) that im sorry minimal expressions come with it, but i try hard to be polite. he plowed on telling me no unopened dvd returns as meanly as he could. it wasn't professional so itold him im not shopping here till youre fired resign or quit

It may not be the best Dollar General here in CO Springs, but it's pretty good. They might not have stuff Walmart has, but you can find lots of things here. After all, it's pretty good.

Usually very fast and efficient. The last few times I've gone in there has been seriously demented people outside (a man taking his pants down) and inside the store. It's gotten to the point where I don't go in anymore.

This will be the last place I go to shop for everyday needs. While shopping today with my husband, he needed to use the bathroom. The clerk said customers are not allowed to use the bathroom in their store since there are too many homeless people in their area. Makes no sense to disallow a customer the use of the bathroom for that reason but he was refused and did not feel good about it. The store also seemed to have a lack of help since the check out line had 9 people waiting and no other clerks came to help. It is clear this store management is not concerned about how they treat customers or "homeless", whom I am sure buys products from their store. Shame on the discrimination in this Dollar General Store.

I never write reviews for anything, but this was one of the worst experiences I have had with an employee. The dollar general used to be great. My friends and I would walk down to this store every weekend. So you could say we were loyal customers. Now I cannot say we will ever go again after today. We walked down and my friend was told to put his backpack at the front of the store which is nothing new. We browsed the store for 5-8 minutes and were told to leave the store. We asked what was wrong and the woman said we were yelling, running around the store, and disturbing the customers. Although none of that was true. We were talking with an inside voice and were just looking around the store like any other customer would. She also made my friends who weren't going to pay outside. After 5 or so minutes she told me I had to leave even though I was still shopping. I paid and then she found my last friend in there and told him to stop and leave. We asked what was wrong and she continued to exclaim that we were making a ruckus, that we were in the store for 30 minutes, and that we were bad mouthing her. Of all things, she was rude to my friend because she essentially called him stupid. Long story short, I will not be coming here again without an apology or some reimbursement. This company needs to learn how to treat their loyal customers. What a shame. P.S. If you want to go to a good dollar store, the Dollar Tree is actually pretty great.
