There is a ton of parking and you walk around the lake to get to the nature preserve. I saw some turtles and a ton of birds. Off in the distance, I kept seeing this tall tower that turned out to be some huge mausoleum.

Crown Hill Park is a great park. It has a wide trail that goes around the lake as well as other trails that shoot off to other parts of the park and surrounding neighborhoods. On the 26th street entrance there are restrooms, water fountains, a bike repair stand and large parking lot. This park is a lot less crowded than Sloans Lake so its easier to circle the lake unencumbered. Many spots on the trail have wildlife viewing sections which make it a fun photo opportunity as well.

Went for morning walk with the dogs and my husband before work. Needless to say, it was gorgeous outside - skies blue and sun shining. This was a nice mile or so long loop around a small lake. There were plenty of people, but not too many, and their dogs walking. We saw several different species of birds and even 2 coyotes doing a little morning hunting in the tall grass. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them! We will come back here. Nice paved areas and smaller trails off of the main trail to follow. Free parking in a few spots.Update: I came here by myself yesterday for a run. Racking up mileage is easy here because there are so many sub-trails around the lake itself. Also very easy to get some easy hill action built in...just enough to get your heart rate up!

Really cool park with a beautiful lake and nice, wide walking paths. We didn't see much wildlife, but we went around noon, so I think if we had gone earlier that we would have seen more.

1.2 mile loop around the park. It's so beautiful no matter when you go. I particularly love it during the winter time when the lake is frozen and you can see the views of the snow covered Rocky Mountains. They do such a great job plowing the snow too. I was super impressed. Came here right after a big snow storm and the trail had already been cleared. The bathroom is super clean. Lots of people walking with their dogs but not crowded.

So quiet compared to sloans lake or other lakes in the wheat ridge, Arvada, Lakewood area. Saw some people fishing, no swimming or kayaking allowed. The lake is peaceful and has great mountain views. There is plenty of green space around too if you want a longer walk/run. I estimated that two laps around the whole park was almost 5 miles, according to my smart watch. There is also a wildlife viewing area, closed until July 1 for nesting season. A bonus for a young girl is that I didn't notice too many creepers here like I do at Sloan's lake and others nearby. The sidewalks were clear of goose poop, such a plus! Saw several large birds, beautiful wildlife.

Great park! Lots of trails. Cement or decomposed granite. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore if that's your thing. Benches scattered throughout. Don't plan on using the picnic structures in the spring or summer. The barn swallows take them over and poop all over the place. Then again we are sort of on their turf.

Obsessed. I always chose to walk my dog at this exact lake. A few reasons I love it so much? 1.Once around the lake is 1.2 miles so if I want to up my walk to 2.4, or 3.6 miles it's easy to adjust. 2. There usually isn't as many people/ less congested than Sloan's Lake.3. Always available parking.4. More nature-esqe than other walking parks.Basically guys, it's a calming, therapeutic, and adjustable walk at a park!

Just wanted to write on here that my folks saw 3 coyotes today (12/26), two were on the ice trying to catch some geese and there was a third skulking through the grass on the west side! Keep an eye out and keep your pups safe :).

In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "I'm melting!" After my inaugural visit to Crown Hill Park and Wildlife Preserve on this sunny June afternoon, I have learned my lesson. Next time, I will wear sunscreen because, while this park is very pretty, there is little to very, very little shade.Don't let the sun exposure stop you from visiting the park and walking one of its numerous trails (shared by horses and bikes, as well as pedestrians). This park is where open prairie meets wetland, which attracts a large variety of birds, as well as smaller wildlife. I chose to walk the lake walk path, which is 1.2 miles long. The views of the mountains from the SE edge of the loop are quite stunning. I didn't bring an ipod, which was just fine, because it was very peaceful listening to the birds chirping and to watch the butterflies and dragonflies dart about. There are two parking lots off of Kipling and 26th Avenue and if you want to park yourself, as well, there are plenty of benches scattered throughout the park.
