We came out early on Sunday morning for a two hour Stand up Paddle board and a kayak rental. Wow! I highly recommend. We were prepared to pay for parking and entrance to the park as per the instructions on the website. Today it was free which was nice. The drive through the entrance to the parking lot was scenic and well marked. At the lake we met Grace and Wes who outfitted us with life jackets and made sure we knew where to go. We also saw a map of where not to go.They are asking for people to not go near the dam, but that wasn't an issue as there is a ton of open space to explore. The lake was quiet, scenic, and beautiful!Without jetskis, boats, etc we were able to hear birds and fish jumping in the water. The sounds of nature really made it seem like an escape that would only be experienced much further away. The two hours flew by, and we are already planning another trip back. Awesome morning 5 minutes away from Parker.

Great time! Helpful employees got us set up, met the owner and he gave us instructions. 2 hours was the perfect amount of time.

Today, two friends and I took a SUP yoga class with Colorado SUP Sports! We had a fantastic time at Chatfield reservoir. Here's what you need to know:1) They supply it all- yoga instructor, SUP, life jacket, anchor (so you don't float Away during yoga, and paddle) for $26.50 if you sign up on their website. They'll let you borrow crokies2) Anyone who is comfortable in water and knows downward dog should try it. Very fun, relaxing, and challenging due to the lack of stability even in easy shapes. 3) You actually get in a real flow with warrior 2, reverse warior, plank, tree, side angle, cobra, bridge, wheel, happy baby, crow and inversions (if you dare), and shavasana!

Myself and two friends did SUP yoga today and had a fantastic time! The instructor was knowledgable, professional and friendly! We really enjoyed her class. She clearly explained how to use the equipment and modify the yoga poses to do them on the water. The only negative thing I would say is that the email confirmation said to arrive 10-15 minutes early, which we did, but it took us almost 20 minutes to get into the park because the line to pay for parking was so long so we were late. I wish I would have known about the parking situation! Luckily the instructor was nice and waited for us to start the class :)

What a great spot for SUP! We were traveling through Denver on our way to Yellowstone, with a stop at Red Rocks. We searched the area for places to get a SUP'ing in before the concert. We hit the jackpot with Chris and Colorado SUP Sports at Chatfield State Park. The lake was clear, clean, and cool. The views of the mountains around Morrison were awesome. The customer service was EXCELLENT. If you are in the west Denver area and looking for a place to SUP, look no further! Thanks again Chris for your hospitality and making sure our family had a great time on the water.

I have rented paddle boards from West & Chris a few times prior to today, and they have both always been incredibly kind, helpful and informative. One example of their flexibility is that I showed up a bit late for my online scheduled rental time this past Saturday, and they pushed back the start time for me so that I could still experience the full two hours. Today, we brought a group of Summer School students for a group class experience. Let me just say, this class is something myself and my students will never forget. West led us around the Gravel Pond, taught the students proper form and technique, and facilitated some awesome games on the boards. West and Chris are experienced in leading school groups as well as groups for people with varying degrees of ability and disability. I think this experience was life changing for my students and we are so thankful for the opportunity that West and Chris gave us today! I cannot recommend them enough.

The owner of Colorado SUP Sports, West Shirley, advertised a MeetUp that said "Join us for a day of all things SUP! On Sat. Aug. 2nd, Colorado SUP Sports is proud to host the "Paddle at the Puddle" at Chatfield's Gravel Pond. Events include a race clinics, SUP Yoga sessions, board demos, citizen and elite races."What's a CITIZEN's race?" How about a race for the rest of us that just want to have fun without the hardcore competition?! The citizen's race is open to all, a chance to practice race skills without the agony of defeat or destroying your board. An elite race for those that fancy themselves a pro will also be held.Try SUP Yoga with our amazing and kind instructors, it's NOT as hard as you think!Demo lots of board types and brands and look for a gently loved SUP in our consignment area. Have a board for sale or swap? Bring it!Call WEST for more details @ 303."I called him and asked if we had to sign up because we didn't have boards of our own and were interested in demo'ing boards as well as the yoga instruction. He said that they had plenty of boards and to come on down to par-take in the activities. The day before the event he sent out a schedule that said the yoga had a cost and everything else was free. When we got there (after spending money to enter the park) he told us there were no demos and that by "plenty of boards" he meant he had boards that we could RENT from him. They were not demo'ing boards at all that day!!? And he seemed shocked that I was suggesting there were demos.Chatfield is quite a drive for us and once we were in the park we had already paid to be there. It is very sad that this is how West needs to market his business by falsely advertising to get people out there. He most likely thinks that once people are there (driven all the way and paid the fee) they are most likely going to just rent from him. Sad, very sad. He should just be honest and say he is there renting boards. People will come to rent boards...not to be hoodwinked into thinking they are demo'ing. We rent boards all the time and were thinking of buying (that is why we wanted to demo). I can promise West Shirley this: we will NEVER buy/rent anything from Colorado SUP Sports!!

If I could give them 6 stars, I would!! They are so friendly, accommodating, and fun! Chris was awesome--she was so welcoming and informative when we rented from her at Cherry Creek Reservoir yesterday. BEST price to rent SUPs at the reservoir too!! They offer you sunglasses bands and sunscreen...and to watch your keys or anything else you don't want to get wet. You can't beat this company--be sure to rent from them!
