My husband and I did our first rafting experience this August 2017 and we had a memorable experience. From start to finish, everything went smoothly with adequate instructions to make us feel comfortable. We chose to do level 3-4 half day rafting and then ATV. The level 3-4 was actually perfect even though it was our first time, due to not wanting it to be too easy.Alex was our rafting guide who did an amazing job!! We almost wished we did a full day.For the ATV, Karen was our guide who also did a a great job and led us up some beautiful trails. Highly recommend this company.

My family and I did the Royal Gorge 1/2 day trip last weekend and had a great time with our guide, Curtis. The higher water and multiple warnings from the AAE staff had me a little worried, but it was fine. My bother (highly athletic) had never rafted before and my mom (a runner, but otherwise un-athletic) and I had only done Browns Canyon last year. Thanks to Curtis's instructions we did great and didn't flip, even at 2400cfm.I would say if you're debating between a harder or easier trip, consider your taste for adventure and your abilities. Are you willing to be flipped or thrown in and still have a good time? Are you willing to pay attention to instruction? You'll probably be fine on the harder trip. If you think a splash into the 40 degree water might ruin your time, consider the easier trip. You still want to have fun, right?!We rafted last year with AAE as well and I would say the Royal Gorge facilities are much better than the Browns'. The gear was nicer too. Both trips were a blast though. If we go again next year I'd like to do the full day trip, and we'll definitely use AAE again!

Took a trip with a group of 28 people. We had 4 boats and went down the gorge. We had Shay (baybay) as our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the river. My entire boat had a great time, we didn't have any swimmers, and Shay has a personality for days. She gave us some history of the various sites we saw while rafting. All of our party had an incredible time including the boat that flipped in Sunshine. All of the guides were awesome. We are all coming back next year and doing their overnight trip. If you're going to raft the Arkansas river this is the place to go.

Awesome experience! Shayleen (hope I'm not messing up with spelling) was an incredible "tour" guide throughout the entire trip! It wasn't just rafting, we learned about the amazing sites and the history behind it. I'd definitely recommend to all levels of mastery as this was the first time ever that most of us had rafted and we did pretty good! Thanks again shayleen for the great experience! A++

We had six in our group and wanted something that was going to be fun and get us a little excited so we chose to do The Numbers tour which is a level 3/4. Our tour guide was Shayleen and she was awesome! She's been around and done this for a while so she knew exactly what to do. The overall rafting trip was just the right amount of excitement for the group although I was expecting more rapids. Since this is only my second time doing this I don't have too much experience but from what it sounds like, I'm wanting more wanted and faster water! But... for where the water level was at and for how fast it was going, it was a pretty good time! The area of the river we were on was very pretty and had a lot of history and scenic views. The views were constantly changing and we had some nice breaks in between the rapids to just talk and hang out. Shayleen was very talkative and personable! It was cool to hear her talk about the history along the river and all about the railroads and caves and steel platforms along the river. She was super chill and laid back and was great at telling us what we needed to do. We all will be making another trip up to this area and requesting her!

Brilliant trip! Our guide Beau was fantastic and we had a blast navigating Browns Canyon even with low water levels. Lots of laughing during the trip and Beau even managed to put my eight year old son (who was v nervous) at ease! Just a great, professional, fun experience!

Experienced the half rafting trip yesterday at the Royal Gorge location: I admit I was nervous at first but it was awesome! A few tips: 1. Go with the recommendations of the people who work there! The water was cold that day and they recommended me and my buddy get the wetsuit, water shoes, and water jacket (It is extra, but I only paid less than 15 dollars for the whole set). I got it, but my friend didn't (he had water shoes and some water resistant clothes). Suffice it to say he wished had gotten the wetsuit afterwards.2. You don't want to carry anything on you during the trip - especially during the rapid sections it is likely for stuff to fall from yourself (i.e. Don't bring a cell phone if your thinking of taking pictures, you'll be holding onto a rowing paddle the whole time). 3. If your new, go with Curtis. A cool skateboarder guy who knows what he is doing (he is a veteran - like (1) says, listen to what he tells you and you will be fine) who also has good taste in movies (he brought up classics like The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop which woulda gotten two fist bumps had it not been for the fact I was in the front of the raft holding a paddle). On the bus ride back to facility we got to hear music from bands like Arctic Monkeys and Green Day (Good Riddance - Time of your life; timeless song and is it just me or is BJ Armstrong timeless; he hasn't age a bit) - What a great way to end the experience. Looking forward to doing it again in the future at American Adventure Expeditions!

Took my Daughter Rafting. We are from Las Vegas, NV. And she had never done anything like this. It was a life changing experience and just to see my daughter enjoy it so much made it all the more special. One of the great things about this Company is that their Outpost was the only one that is right on the river so when you reach the end of trip your right there! Other company's have a pick up point and have to drive you back to their Outpost, which makes this Company far more convenient. I have to also mention our guide because he was totally awesome his name was Earl and he made everything fun and was extremely knowledgeable and very encouraging of everyone I cant thank him enough for giving my daughter and me an experience of a lifetime. This company truly cares we were running a little late as to not knowing the area, they gave me call and assured me they wouldn't leave without us. It was an amazing experience and can't wait to do it again.

We had a great time today. Jake was a fantastic rafting guide, made all of us feel safe and educated during the trip. He was great with the kids!! My 7 year old was cold and Jake got a fleece from Josh to keep her warm. Much appreciated from Josh!
