Coal Mine Dragon Chinese Restaurant

Let me start off by saying they did not come up in the search we did to find Chinese restaurants that deliver. We are new to the Fountain area and my husband has missed a great MiFun dish. Sad to say no one so far make the dish here.So let get into this review. We were rolling thru to go to Panda Express and spotted this spot. Went in were greeted upon entering ñ, got a menu, checked it out and immediately placed our order. The prices were very reasonable and they had items we missed.I ordered the shrimp fried rice with extra onions and green onions because that how I like it. My husband ordered the combination lomein extra spicy, a side of vegetable egg rolls and crabmeat wontons. The portion size for the shrimp fried rice was good, it looked good and it tasted good. The lomien was spicy and very flavorful but the portion sized stuff in that box was very disappointing for $14.95 plus tax!!!! The wonton were very good and the veggie egg rolls were small for $4.95 for 2 and disappointing as well... the place was nice on the inside and looked very cozy.For a total of almost $50 for 2 people and to be disappointed; we may give another try and see what some other favorites look like.

Delicious food that's well priced with great portions! Definitely a go-to Chinese place in the area.

Their lunch specials are fabulous. The dinner menu can be a little expensive for a whole family. But please don't get me wrong, they make tasty food. They do deliver locally.

Wow. This place has great food. Big portions too. It looked super clean and the folks who work here were friendly. Afffordable lunch specials, all under $8.95. Included crab rangoon and a spring roll. Loved this place!

I had never been to this location so I was interested if there would be a difference between the two locations. Yes, yes there was. The Uintah location was mediocre and this location was just not good. I ordered the crispy fried chicken and it was NOT crispy and the sauce was kind of bland. It was like a watered down general tso sauce. Now this was just one dish so I will give it another try to see if it was just the one dish or not.

We were a bit skeptical- the entire strip mall is pretty old, and this location is a bit hidden. Not another soul in the place at 5:30, but they were doing a robust take-out business. Service was excellent. I have a shellfish allergy and they were very accommodating. We ordered one of the combination meals. Starting with our favorite-- hot and sour soup. Theirs was good -- we could taste the pork and a hint of sweetness made it unique. Then thee po po platter - they substituted chicken for the shrimp. Very generous portions- ribs, beef skewer - wonton - egg rolls-- yum. We should have stopped there. The entrees and rice were very disappointing. The fried rice was just rice with some seasoning and no veggies or egg, very bland. The chicken and veggies were okay, but the deep fried beef was a little weird- I couldn't place it, but my husband did not care for the seasoning. We hardly touched them and didn't ask for a to go bag. We did get both fortune cookies and the almond cookies. And left a nice tip.

Well, I'm having mixed feelings. The quantity of food is decent. However, the price and quality......that's where it lacks. My wife order General Tso chicken and it was delicious. Flavorful, perfect amount of heat and sweet. I wouldn't know what mine tastes like (Hunan Beef) because i was given Beef and Broccoli. (For some reason they stapled the bag closed) and my daughter got Chicken Chow Mein which was basically chicken noodle soup and lacked ALL flavor. Literally, it had no flavor. Not even a salt taste. Im not going to flat out say "don't go here" but go at your own risk. I'll dine in next time. (If there is a next time)

Overall a pretty meh experience. Won ton soup was good and egg drop soup was OK, if a bit gelatinous. It was the main courses that fell flat. Sesame chicken was the best, though nothing to write home about. Chicken itself was fine and while pretty heavily breaded, it was nicely crispy. Sauce flavor was good. In many restaurants sesame chicken comes with steamed broccoli, but not here. Overall a 3.5. Orange shrimp was OK, but nothing special. Plus is that the shrimp were nicely cooked, negative is that the scant veggies were undercooked and hard. Despite a LOT of orange wedges, the sauce flavor wàsn't all that "orangey." I think the problem may have been the amount of peel left a somewhat bitter flavor. Overall, a 3. The real loser was the orange beef, which was tough as shoe leather and only a bit more flavorful. Again, the few veggies were undercooked. Rating this one a 2 is being generous. Service was efficient, if not particularly warm and friendly.In sum, I've had worse but also a lot better. Life is too short to merit a return visit.

Been going to this restaurant for 30 years. Fabulous food and service. Highly recommended

I love Coal mine dragon, been going here since I was a teen. I love the Szechuan chicken. And the egg rolls are amazing.
