Cloud Camp is a resort nestled on s mountaintop just above 9000 ft. It is owned and operated by the Broadmoor. From the Broadmoor's South Tower you are shuttled (via Cadillac Escalade) to the resort, which sits 3000ft above the Broadmoor main. You have the option to take a mule ride about half way, which takes about 45 minutes, and was enjoyed by several members of our party.you get a tour of the property and an offer of drinks. There are also fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies available as well as homemade blueberry scones. Our cabin was decorated beautifully in an old-west style. It's small but cozy. There are no TV's and no wi-fi in the cabins, but there is wi-fi in the main lodge. It's a great opportunity to unplug and relax. In the center area there is a fire pit where s'mores happen after dinner (but everybody was too full for s'mores). There's a lot of things to do during the day. The concierge contacted us ahead of time to find out what types of things we might be interested in. They have a morning guided hike, mule rides (in addition to offering them when you arrive), archery instruction, lunch, an afternoon guided hike, camp craft, and cooking club. The only activities that we participated in was the cooking club, and I have to say that that alone was worth the entire experience! The chef who leads this, Chef Alex, was a phenomenal cook and a very entertaining person. We observed as he made hollandaise sauce, asparagus soup, and many other things. We were able to taste as he explained what he thought was lacking, and then taste again as he added spices to the various dishes. After cooking club, we had drinks on the patio overlooking the entire valley. Incredible views! The servers came around with appetizers, which were amazing. But, we didn't want to eat too much ahead of time because we had already had a taste of the dinner to come. We stayed two nights, and both dinners were some of the best meals that we have ever had. Each guest chooses between two soup starters, three entrees, two salads, and two desserts. Every single course, and every single entree, was absolutely delicious. The first night, I had the beef tenderloin, and it literally melted in my mouth. The second night, I had the duck and my husband had the trout, and, again, the meat was tender and the sauces amazing. We were glad that we only stayed two nights, because we would have gained 10 pounds if we had stayed any longer. The service is amazing, the food is great (and all inclusive), the wine was pouring, and atmosphere is completely relaxing. I can't think of a better quick getaway than the Broadmoor's Cloud Camp.

There are no words to describe the beauty of Cloud Camp. The views are absolutely unreal! We spent two nights in the Fire Tower and could not have been more pleased with our time here. The mule ride up the mountain was a blast, and we were greeted at the top with drinks, warm cookies and scones. The lodge is a work of art--truly beautiful. All of the staff we have encountered have been so kind. The atmosphere at Cloud Camp is very community oriented-- with both the staff and the guests. The large community dining table at dinner brings everyone together and all of the staff knew our names. Both nights, we spent over three hours chatting and enjoying the company of the other guests staying at the camp before moving to the fire pit for s'mores. Food here is done Broadmoor style! It's plentiful and delicious. We went on a guided hike, played games in the lodge during a storm, enjoyed the hot tub and an additional mule ride, hiked around property, and LOVED cooking club both nights. From Cloud Camp, there is easy access to numerous trails which normally would require a much longer commute to access. The sunrise was gorgeous. This was the ultimate in rustic relaxation and the best place to unwind and just get away from it all. We can't wait to return.

We visited Cloud Camp last Labor Day weekend. The location and setting is really fantastic and extraordinary. One gets shuttled from the Broadmoor hotel up and down the additional 3000ft altitude. But it's not always an Escalade, could be a normal Chevy van as well. The trip up is quite interesting most of the journey on dirt road with a total of 16 switchbacks. The lodge itself is settled directly on the mountain top, overlooking the valley of Colorado Springs on one side, and facing the line of mountains - including the Pike Peak - on the other side.We had a room in the main building, which was rather a little bit small, but nicely decorated. The bathroom had a shower with a nice pebble floor. All of this in good shape, as the Cloud Camp opened only recently in 2014.Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had arranged for one guided hike and an unguided one towards the Seven Falls, which was explained in detail from the staff.Unfortunately there were several small issues, which were partly disturbing the stay.Firstly one would expect that this place is a place for solitude and tranquility - above the busy city and streets - but there was music blaring all the day out of loudspeakers both inside the main lodge room as well as on the patio. We had to ask several times to turn it down. What is the purpose of music there? We enjoyed far more the sound of the wind in the aspen leaves, the sound from the birds and the quietness in comparison to the normal life.Positively one can remark, that there were no TV sets in the rooms or the main dining room though. Secondly we considered the evening dinners as not being a feast but rather gluttony. There was every day a 4 course dinner (before this, even hors d'oeuvre were served on the patio), and an additional gift main course from the kitchen. So overall this counts 6 courses. A family style dinner with one plate and everybody taking from that would have been far more appropriate for the location and setting of a lodge, rather than a full service hotel. We have seen such approaches in other lodges in rural Texas for example.Beside the obvious point of being too much, one can also wonder about the amount of food which was then prepared and not consumed and had to be thrown away. The quality of the food - which was positive remarked from other reviewers - is definite not the highest. The trout had an interesting sauce hollandaise on top, the duck was overcooked. The standard wine selection was tasting not matching the overall impression, so best to stay with the beer.So our overall rating is, that this place is still searching for its proper position. The pricing suggests top level, but the implementation of several items is not matching this expectation. The location and views are stunning for sure, and we appreciated that there is no "day excursion" access from the Broadmoor, but rather only overnight guests.
