I have been stopping by City on the Hill lately for donuts. Other than chain grocery, this is the only place in town to get scratch made donuts. I love them! They bought the recipes from a place in town that closed (Rollers - whose owners retired I think). Their cake donuts are sweet and dense and the raised are nice and light. Love the jelly donuts (which a bit different as it is a glazed donut with the middle filled with jelly. Nice vibe. Plenty of parking out front. If you go for donuts go early because they do sell out.

We had a Apple fritter, cinnamon donut, and a vanilla glazed donut. They were all very good and very fresh. We also had a double expresso and a latte. Both very good. Will be back!

Not sure why this place has low reviews. We loved the atmosphere, coffee, and the donuts are amazing. The staff was friendly and helped us decide which donut to choose. Don't listen to the naysayers and give it a try.

Cutest new addition to Cañon City's mainstreet. This place has great coffee/espresso and treats! I opted for an iced vanilla latte and a vegetarian quiche. The latte and the quiche both tasted great! This coffee shop is very spacious so whether you're just hanging out or catching up on emails, you can have your choice at where to sit. One of my favorite additions was the self serve coffee and water bar. Definitely recommend checking out City On a Hill!

Good move with the donuts. They are excellent. We didn't try the coffee. The place was busy and still clean inside.

Came in on the Thursday before Blossom Festival at 11:30 and they were already closed. Horrible hours for me, even when I get there before 1 they are already closed. Starbucks was open.

A so-so coffee establishment. Staff were friendly and attentive, neither the food nor the coffee were anything special.

Go two doors down to the Bean Pedaler. Not knowing it had not closed behind me, I accidentally left the door open and my introduction to the place was someone yelling, "You might want to close the door!"The staff were harried, someone was being trained (great, but don't let it interfere with service or mention it so people know they will have to wait a bit longer). It seemed like the person serving was annoyed that all I wanted was a pumpkin scone. Warming it up was not offered and I did not want to ask. When I said it was to go I got a large plastic clamshell box and when I said I would prefer to take it in a napkin as I did not need such a big box, I was left to find myself a napkin and get on my way. When I started to break off a piece to eat on the highway I discovered that it was stale. The outside was hard and the inside was the texture of play-dough.Go two doors down on the same side of the street - everything is better there.

There are two coffee establishments in the same block here and they are both just fine. City On A Hill is where we caffeinate in Leadville and the Canon location is equally good. Good croissants.

I desperately wanted to love this coffee shop. The coffee is mediocre- the pastry was tough and underdone. The one thing I will say is that the atmosphere is pretty interesting and there's a lot of cool things about the decor and the place itself. The food and coffee however..
