When I first heard of the City of Monument, I thought that this city must have a ton of monuments commemorating various folks and/or events. I was mistaken. This small town was actually named after the large monument rock located at the base of Mount Herman. You can see the rock really well from the city of Monument. Cool place to hike as well. In fact, there are plenty of great hiking spots around this town.We spent about a week here staying with our awesome friends who live here. The city is not very large, but it has everything you need. Close by to Colorado Springs for stuff that you may not find in Monument. I look forward to visiting Monument every time we visit our extended family!

Looking for a quiet town with great schools? Well if so this is one that is in Colorado. I use to love here over a decade ago and loved it so much. The schools are great, if you prefer your children in some of the best schools. When I was there they were still building up. So it's not a big city like Colorado Springs at all, but it is a beautiful location. Palmer Lake is right down the street and you aren't far at all from Colorado Springs. Castle rock and Denver are also not too far away as well. Oh and how could I forget, you are also not too far from Fort Carson, if you are military. There are several stores and places for you to enjoy yourself. There were also a good amount of housing developments being built when I was living here. The view my friends is like anywhere in Colorado....GORGEOUS!!! All in all, I would recommend this town if you are looking to move to the Colorado Springs area.

To keep it short. I'm here in Monument. Been here 2 weeks on business. I've been racially profiled three times one at Walmart and once at king sooper grocery store. Both times it was for stealing. Both times there were other non black ppl walking next to me and not asked to be stopped. Both times I had a receipt. The third time I was followed by the police from one shopping to another 6 miles away. Filled me all the way to the door of the other store. Go figure.

I'm not sure what girls that live here are called, but the boys that live here are known as The Monument Men. There's even a movie about them. Oh wait.Only eight thousand people live in sleepy little Monument, which is a beautiful Colorado town located not far from Colorado Springs, with gorgeous forest country to the North and the Air Force Base located to the South. It's at the base of the Rampart Mountains and is a second amendment sanctuary, which is creepy, isn't it? So no gun laws at all then. That's a very scary thing because it means there are no gun laws here but I guess until there is some kind of awful shooting here, it's their own business. Maybe it's better for second amendment people to have their own cities and stay there, and the rest of us to have the gun laws we need to protect us.

Quiet, friendly and very sweet little town. Incredibly welcoming people! Lots of coffee shops in such a close distance. There are museums to check out, restaurants, that thrift store I reviewed and lots more. Do not expect a city, expect mostly fields, farms, trees, hills and the gorgeous mountain view. Very close by to Colorado Springs and Palmer Lake. The highway is a little funky to get back on to, but very easy to get off and have a full filled experience here.
