My two best friends and I have been staying at this campsite at least a quarter of the year for the last 3 years so this review has been long overdue. We are Messianic/1st century Christians that celebrate the Hebrew Festivals so finding places we can trust with the "set apart" vibes is super important to us. First off, I love that this campsite is still owned by a family VS a corporation! The owner Megan is so sweet and really does her best to manage the grounds and create a great experience for her customers. Her staff Ron, Jan, Jason, Jeremy, Michael, Luke, Joyce, and Anthony (everyone I can think at the moment) really makes this place feel like a home away from home. Great location: We personally like camping in tents down at the lower level. Yes, there is a road that can be heard because it's directly behind the site but who cares?! I think it's in a really convenient place in between Salida (20 minutes away) and Buena Vista (7 minutes away). The beautiful river that runs through is really pretty sounding most of the time! I go straight to sleep hearing the babbling brooks and occasional fish plopping out of the watersFacilities and convenience: The wifi is great! I believe they use starlink now! I like to park ny truck at the upper level to finish any work emails/calls or watch movies The showers do require quarters but I won't complain because they get really hot, really fast. I've never had any issues with having hot water here. Also, the bathrooms stay really clean and the laundry room next door is super convenient. We like to shop in the front store for stuff when we run out of basics. Saves time and money not having to go to the grocery store! Dog friendly: We have a small dog (terrier and Chihuahua mix) that gets pretty yappy when she sees other dogs but what dogs don't freak out when they see other dogs? The poop stop for her at the upper level is great to let her do her business when other dogs aren't around. We dont have any kids with us but we see families come with kids all of the time and they seem really happy playing lots of outdoor games in the fields! The campsite also hosts bingo on weekends and kids have lots of fun playing. God bless this place!

This campground is a little gem! We tent camped on the lower part, by the creek. Though the playground looks a little sketchy, our son had an AMAZING time with the classic slide, tether ball, and swing set. Chalk Creek was beautiful and had small rock pools to wade in. The trees were well kept and so are the camp sites. There are nice, flush toilet bathrooms by the dumpster/hill with lights for nighttime. The staff was SO friendly and welcoming! They brought our firewood down to our site for us, upgraded our site for a very small fee, grabbed the last size shirt off the display for me, and were just genuinely warm people. It's in a great location too - close to Buena Vista, Mt Princeton hot springs, and Salida. Our family will absolutely stay again soon!!

The hosts were so nice & helpful! We stayed in the lower campground along the river & it was lovely! We had a great campfire along the river! We stayed two nights in our class C. There was electric only, but they have a clean shower room and dump station. The sites seem mostly level & are very clThis place is a good location if you want to be close to Buena Vista and/or Mt Princeton. It is close to the road between Salida & Buena Vista.

I can't speak for the upper level but lower level near the creek it's easy to forget there is a highway near by. Every night I fell asleep to the creek and slept like a baby. Staff were extremely nice and the Bingo night was awesome! The little store has a good variety so you don't have to go to town and then showed and bathroom were the cleanest I e come across. 5 stars for my stay!

Ooooffff. This place is a D U M P. Porta poties instead of restrooms, the saddest / scariest little "playground" I've ever seen, teeny tiny RV spots and a terribly rude front office staff. We stayed 12 hours before bailing. Definitely avoid at all costs.

Wonderful spot with fabulous staff and facilities! We were in the overflow next to the highway, but still had a glorious weekend. We were escorted to our spot after I bought out the cute little store. Omg the koozies!!! Our campsites were next to a little babbling brook (yes it talked to us), but the lower campground was next to the river which several people fished. Also, the tent area down there was on lush, green grass. Very nice!! The showers and bathrooms were super clean. We will be back on our next trip to BV.

Don't stay here. It's horrible. Especially the lower campground near the river/creek...which doesn't drown out the highway noise....or the countless dogs...or the packs of kids running wild. We are packed in here like sardines. You are better off pulling over on the side of the road and sleeping in your car...even if it's a compact car. There are no refunds once you make a reservation. This means if you show up for a 3 night reservation, and you decide this place is not for you, and you decide to eject....you lose your money.I wonder how much these folks make off that scam given they surely resell the same campsites to the next non-knower.

I made reservations several months before the trip. The trailer description defined in reservations was quite clear. Upon arrival the spot designated was defined for trailers 13-16' , mine is 19' with an overall length 24'. That was the only site they had for me-was able to squeeze in but just. During the week no big deal, on the weekend a new class A came in. Their kiddos were constantly running through our camp space and they set up an outside kitchen in part of our space and their extra quests took our parking spot. The lower campground we were in had 30 amp service with nice trees and grass, the camp was clean. This facility is quite nice for tent camping. For RVs on the lower campground, you are shoehorned in. I saw at least one potential RV come in only to leave 30 minutes later. State Campgrounds in the area are much nicer and affordable not to mention very nice disbursed camping available in the area.

We came here to dump and fill up water, we were told we could dump but not fill up but could dump for $20 which was fine. We saw people filling up water so we asked a man with white and a white beard and he said they are staying here. So we drove on to dump our RV. The same man came over while we were dumping just to ask if we were rinsing out our black tank and not filling up our fresh water tank. I don't steal so I don't like being accused of it. I thought that was extremely unprofessional. If you tell me I can't fill up with water than I won't. He also kept driving by to make sure. You guys really should give an option to fill up if you're not staying there even for an up charge instead of telling people they can drive 7 mile back the other way.

We used to Camp here several times a year a few years ago. However, six years ago we were camping with friends as they were leaving they gave me their firewood and I was walking it over to my campsite when one of the campground workers told me I could not gather firewood. Despite trying to explain the situation he told me I could not take the wood so I literally dropped it in the road. But we had plans for the hot springs and stuff to do in the mountains this October weekend so I broke my ban and I booked the "premium" site at the upper level because we wanted full hookups. It ran $75 and night and we were surprised once we pulled into find we did not have a fire ring. I was told I could use the community fire pit which was dominated by about a dozen adults and children.I asked the lady at the front office if we could use one of the Dozen available fire Rings down at the tent camping area. She told us this would not be possible because they all might book up online. Mind you the forecasted low for this night was 36 degrees. Kind of chilly to tent camp IMO.About an hour later we received a call from the manager stating that we could gladly rent one of the Dozen available tent campsites for $20 if we wanted to have a fire. This place is expensive as it is and I did not feel like spending another $20.The campsite is clean, and well-maintained. They get two stars for that. But this is my second time having horrible customer service therefore I will not be coming back.As you can see from my photo not one of those tent sites was booked.
