No visit to the Broadmoor Hotel is complete without a stop at Julie's cafe in the lower level. There is always a wonderful seasonal centerpiece of chocolate and sugar on display. The cafe has seating within it, but if there are just two of us my favorite is to sit just outside the cafe in the armchairs by the fireplace. Most recent visit they had "Chefs Hot Chocolate". We ordered 3 cups for the six of us and we still struggled to drink it all! The hot chocolate almost needed a knife and fork to eat it, it was so thick and creamy and chocolatey. At $7 a cup the hot chocolate initially seemed expensive, but after sampling it we all felt it was excellent value for money based on size and flavor. The pastries that we ordered were almost superfluous, but we ate them anyway. Ingredients, execution and presentation are always of the highest quality and the staff are helpful and attentive. And of course if you have stopped by between Thanksgiving and New Years make sure to stop by the Gingerbread "House" on the other side of the lake. Yet more demonstration of the patisserie chefs talents.

The staff here are extremely friendly! I came here several times during my stay for breakfast or a quick drink. I tried their hot chocolate and I wasn't much of a fan. I did however really enjoy their chai tea latte and ordered that several times. I tried different pastries: almond croissant, butter croissant and another French pastry. My favorite out of those three was the butter croissant. They have many other pastries and desserts to choose from and some good souvenirs!

During our stay at the Broadmoor we are at Cafe Julie's three times! It was so convenient to our room just inside the hotel. I got a chai latte twice (a little spicy!) and a white chocolate mocha once. I got a pecan roll and it was delicious! It reminded me of a praline! The chefs make chocolate sculptures and they were amazing! I really loved this little cafe and am grateful it was there.

As far as cafes inside hotels/resorts go, this is one of my favorites. When you walk in, you are greeted with a massive chocolate sculpture that shows impeccable craftsmanship. They have a wide selection of pastries and desserts that are on display. There are also a few hot breakfast items as well as grab and go items. You order at the counter and they have adequate seating available. The people working there are friendly and help you move through the line quickly. The cinnamon roll was served straight out of the case and tasted good, but it was a little dried out from sitting in the case. I think it would have been better if it had been heated but we weren't given the option so I'm not sure if they are able to heat it or not. The hazelnut croissant swirl was one of the best pastries that I've tried. Despite the appearance, the outside had a perfect crunchiness and the inside was light and airy. The inside was filled with a rich chocolate hazelnut custard-like filling. It was messy, but one of the best croissants that I've eaten. I would go back just to eat another one.

Beautiful atmosphere. Friendly staff that was accommodating to adjusting the drinks to appease my crew's pallet. Tasty drinks. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I think the service was a bit slower than it needed to be. Delicious sweet treats! I recommend trying something out and watching the chocolatier create treats behind the window at the back of the cafe'.

Ventured to the cafe on our last day at the Broadmoor and the sheer excitement we felt at the sight of all the delectable options was indescribable. However difficult, we chose to order the Broadmoor snickers, birthday cupcake and blueberry, pistachio and vanilla macaroons. The pistachio and vanilla macaroons were disappointing, but the blueberry had good flavor. Unfortunately, all of macaroons tasted old. The birthday cupcake was delightful. It was moist and the frosting was light. The strawberry filling was creamy and actually tasted of strawberries. The Broadmoor snicker had good quality chocolate and the filling was creamy. Perfect for peanut butter lovers (not me). We paid 50+ (with tip). We felt that the staff could have been more welcoming and friendly. The service was also slow as they were making sure the packaging was immaculate. It was uncomfortably and unpleasantly warm in the cafe. It was quite stuffy and instantaneously conducive to sweating. We couldn't wait to get out of there.

I read the answer from The Broadmoor that stated you do not need to be a hotel guest and do not need reservations to visit the Cafe. We drove from Denver to the hotel to visit the Cafe and was told that it was only for those staying in the hotel and was made to turn around. Not welcoming and definitely not a good impression.

We visit The Broadmoor every August. My kids always insist on stopping at Cafe Julie's first thing. We always enjoy their breakfast pastries & coffee in the morning, and their gelato and seasonal pastries for an afternoon treat. They also have great packaged goodies to take home to friends & family!

So cute and lots of yummy options... all of their chocolates are gluten-free and they have gluten-free macaroons for three dollars. They said they usually carried a gluten-free muffin but they were out. There are lots of really cute gifts if you were looking to bring something home if you've been staying at the Broadmoor hotel. They serve wines tea, sodas, and even alcoholic beverages.
