The food is straight up basic breakfast and tasty! No complain here! The staff are seasoned and attentive! I like looked around and noticed photos of old Hollywood stars from lone ago. Also, this diner is frequented by regulars. Love it!My special pancake was fluffy. My eggs came as requested ; over medium. "Holy wow. I am obsessed with the selection of sausages at this place. From traditional ones like cheese brats to more unique meats like rattlesnake and boar, this is the place to go in Frisco if you're feeling like something totally different. The German potato salad and marinated cucumbers are traditional dishes and they do not disappoint. I added both as my sides (they are on the smaller side, so expect that!). The boar and cranberry sausage along with the cheese brat were perfect compliments. One more fatty and savory (brat) and the other more sweet and subtle (boar). The hoagie roll is superior to the ciabatta in my opinion because it's toasted and more dense so the mustard doesn't make it soggy. Speaking of mustard, they have at least 5 different types of mustards at your arms reach along with a condiment bar including onion, sauerkraut, cheese and peppers to dress up your sausages. Highly recommend the Dunkel beer as well. They had other drinks like hot toddy, mulled wine, etc if you're not a beer drinker. The service was amazing, I took a little longer to look over the menu at the table and they came to my table instead of having me go order at the register which I thought was very kind. I did see dogs (very well behaved) just right inside but not many at the tables because they were packed. Overall, I highly recommend this place and will be returning over and over again!"

""Denver's Best Pancakes"?I'll be the judge.Verdict is: YESSSS!My husband is a pancake connoisseur and with Wendell's boasting the title of "Best pancakes in Denver", I knew just the place to meet my mother-in-law for a breakfast date!We arrived just after 9:30 to a bustling Tennyson St filled with folks who clearly had the same idea we did! After circling the block, we snagged a spot out front to park just a few short steps away from the entrance! Parking in this area is a bit tough, but once you see a spot, snag it! Beware - the nearby businesses have parking for their customers only - which many people fail to see - so just FYI!My mother-in-law was already seated a cozy booth in the rear near the window and to my surprise, the space wasn't packed! The space itself is super unique with exposed brick, bright white walls, cozy booths and a large oak booth across from the massive community table! It exudes all the best touches creating the perfect vibe for brunch!Brunch isn't brunch without 3 different beverages, so I started my morning off with hot coffee, water and a spring cocktail - the Elderflower Spritz! Beautiful and floral and light - the perfect sip! Our server, who name escapes me now, was beyond friendly, welcoming and sat right down with us to discuss the menu, specials and everything in between! She knew her stuff, cracked jokes with us, had our coffee never see the bottom of the cup and made our entire experience enjoyable!Now onto the food! Hubs opted for the Wendell Junior - featuring Two Eggs Any Style, Seasoned Hashbrowns, Ham and subbed toast for the famous pancakes! All I can say is WOW! The pancakes were dense with flavor but fluffy and light, was sweet but wasn't TOO sweet and absolutely delicious! We are OG pancake people in that we like just butter and syrup on top and this did not disappoint! I chose to nosh on a spring special - the Brisket Poutine which hadSmoked Brisket, Seasoned Hashbrowns, Carolina Bacon Gravy, Fried Cheese Curds, Two Sunny Side Up Eggs - and YUM. I'm not a huge brisket girlie but it was crisp, light and all the flavors melded together juuuuuust right for one delicious bite!We also chose to sample the Chicken and Waffles which were oh so good. The chicken was spicy and crispy, yet sweet when mixed with the waffles - with plenty to take home!Look out Wendell - we will back!!"

"I was in the area at 5:30 AM looking for a breakfast place that was already open to get a breakfast burrito and Apple Ridge Cafe was there for me in the early hours. This is a local spot for sure. If you go in the morning you will get to hear all the local guys talking about everything that is going on. They have their regular booths, come in and give the poor waitress a hard time. She can dish it back for sure, but it make for some pretty comical entertainment while you are waiting for breakfast.Apple Ridge Cafe offered a big breakfast burrito. It is stuffed with potatoes and eggs then smothered in a New Mexican style green chile that was excellent. I could just enjoy a bowl of that chili with some eggs and would be very happy. The potatoes are good, but there are a lot of them in the burrito so you walk out full and satisfiedWhen I return I want to try the pregnant burrito. I wish I would have caught this on the menu before I ordered. It is a burrito that is stuffed with a chile relleno inside. Must I say more?There was only one waitress working while I was there, but she had that whole place under control. The knows what the regulars want for their breakfast and she makes sure that food comes out of the kitchen in a hurry. Fun place for a breakfast if you get a chance."

"It's all about the EXPERIENCE. Forget the food. Yes, you will have a nice dinner with a nice beverage and some of the friendliest staff I've ever run into. But the EXPERIENCE is something you will long remember some 20 years henceforth. After hiking up a 2 mile mountain incline rising an additional 350 feet, you arrive at the the coziest yurt cookhouse overlooking a breakthtaking mountain range. The hike back to the Nordic center after dinner was in the dark but they give you gear like a headlamp, poles, etc. to make your trek easier. Hiking alone with my husband on top of a mountain in the dark with the light of a full moon was about as magical an experience could ever be."

"Came in on a busy Saturday, was sat briefly and given a fair amount of time to look over the menu before our order was taken.The restaurant itself carries a very home-like vibe and appears to have a very loyal group of regulars. It can be loud, but not obnoxious in my opinion.The food itself was great. The biscuits and gravy were quite good. The gravy was thick enough to my liking & the biscuits were well cooked. The gravy had sausage bits that were chunky and a little big for my taste, but it still was incredible. Those who like their b&g with adequate pepper might want to add some at the table. I asked for the eggs over medium and they were actually over medium, while not being rubbery.Not pictured was three pancakes, they were about hand sized and not bad. Although the syrup was very liquidy and runny for my taste.Overall service was good, prices were fair, and food gave off a very nice hole-in-the-wall vibe."

"I'm not sure why they have such low ratings. When you walked inside, it was covered with cows. Even the bathroom had cow paintings and artwork inside. Thats why they call it the cow and eatery. You can either eat inside or the outside patio or the back closed off patio. The service is great, and they are quick and check on you frequently. When I asked for hot sauce, they brought over three from their own brand. I was impressed by all three. It felt like I was in the show hot ones on youtube, haha!!I found out that this place used to be just an ice cream shop with just outside seating, but renovated it for food and dessert with seating inside. I think that was a great idea. Food wise, I ordered for myself the seafood mac and cheese. I'm on a diet not eating fried food, so it was limited, and of course, I got myself dessert too. Their banana split was so good. I enjoyed it thoroughly even though I'm not a fan of chocolate. But their two flavors and all of the toppings together combined matched well. I would suggest getting their dessert as it's all handmade."

I had the breakfast nachos type meal (that's not what it's called on the menu but it's basically chips, cheese, choice of meat (I got chorizo), crème fresh, beans, green chili sauce and an egg on top) and it was absolutely delicious. I love huevos rancheros and this was very similar in flavor but just a different execution. Will definitely get that again. My kids both had hot cakes and they were beautifully fluffy and delicious. Service was great -- attentive, understated and professional. Definitely a great local place that I would recommend and return to often."

"One of my wife's and my early dates was when we went out to what was then a backwoods area--free from the city lights of Denver near Chief Hosa. We laid out a blanket and watched the Perseid meteor shower. So breathtakingly beautiful. Afterwards we decided we were hungry and so once the sun was up we decided to go to Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner for an early breakfast. Had the Chuck Wagon Breakfast of steak, eggs, hash browns and toast, that's still on the menu these 20 years later. Cost I think around $4.95 or so back then. Today the price has risen to $9.95, but it's still a great deal. And what's the best thing about that 46 ton railroad car diner that was shipped out to Denver I think back in the 50s or early 60s and is now on the National Historic Registry? Well they're still serving the same Chuck Wagon Breakfast.We were driving up to the mountains yesterday and happened to be going by the diner when we both looked over at each other and without saying a word reached out squeezing each other's hands and smiled. Turned into the diner parking lot, and went in and ordered the same meals. So lemme ask you this . . . how could I give anything less than a 5 star rating to Davies'?Sign me,David "Lucky in love" M"

"Fair warning, most of these businesses during the summer are going to be run by the local teenagers. I appreciate them working hard, but there is definitely room for improvement. I feel like there needs to be an adult supervising these students or someone who can guide them in running the restaurant more efficiently.We walked in and ended up being 3rd on the list (awesome!) and they stated it would only be about a 10min wait. Great. We went outside as the entryway is extremely small and can get crowded quickly. We started seeing other groups being seated that arrived after us. Sometimes they'll seat larger groups first, so I didn't think anything of it. Then the host came out with the pad of names and she was on the second page. That's when I knew something was off. I went to talk with her and she went back to the first page and EVERY name was crossed off,but mine. She apologized and we were seated next. We sat down and we were asked 3x by 3 different people whether or not we want something other than water. We continued to see this pattern for EVERY table. VERY inefficient and a waste of time when you have a line out the door. We were in a rush to get back to Denver so we only wanted our meal and to get out of there. I had a slice of french toast and hashbrowns ($3+$5) and my husband ordered the western omelette ($14). No extra drinks, no substitutions. The french toast was exactly what I needed and the hashbrown hit the spot. The omelette was what we expected. The check comes and it's hand written with our order with no prices, but a simple total of $27.05. Umm... 5+3+14 =22. Tax was about 9%, so at most it should be about $24-25. Not sure what they're charging us extra for. My husband just wanted to get out of this establishment, so I did not confront them about the random charge. On top of that, they do charge you the credit card fee (4%). I don't mind fees, but please DISCLOSE what I am paying for. In the end, our tab was $28.13 excluding tip. I personally was not pleased with all these hidden fees. There are a few other diners in town and I will be going to those restaurants over this one in the future."
