I love this little live theater venue hidden up in the small mining and tourist town of Cripple Creek, Colorado. And I don't get here often enough.I drove up today (about an hour drive from my house in Colorado Springs.) after a friend recommended the play she had just seen here, Spamalot! It is a funny, energetic, musical version of Monty Python's search for the holy Grail. The theater is very historical and fun to visit. It is upstairs and used to be a Dancehall! For Spamalot, the bar offered a specialty drink, called the Excalibur, which had rum, amaretto, and various fruit juices and was very tasty!

This is the definition of a quaint little tourist spot. Home to "summer actors and actresses" from all around the US getting some experience and adding to their resumes, there's always a show on and an enthusiastic cast.Second visit, this time for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.Since we're in Colorado every summer, will probably be back next year. Consistently good and a fun excursion.

Incredible independent local theatre company. The Halloween show was phenomenally hilarious. Not very often do I find an entertainment venue that has my teen, my husband and I so enthralled; we were dying laughing. Such incredible talent along with small town hospitality! Great prices and such a memorable evening!! Will try to attend all their shows! Just can not say enough!

This was a cute little theater above a fire station. Every person we ran into was very nice including staff and guests. We were able to sit in during their off-season for a fundraiser and a drinks and dessert were included. We would definitely come back!

The Butte is a big time play house in a small town. Every play I have seen there is very professionally done. The talent the theater attracts is just amazing. If you are in Cripple Creek do yourself a favor and see whatever performance is playing during your visit.

I still love this place! ^__^I have since come up several times for different shows and I just can't help but falling in love with it every time I come.I do love the town and wished there was a bit more to it than casinos, since I don't care for gambling anyways, but I do hope that the town will slowly add more artistic endeavors to its repertoires. I do support anything non-gambling that I can in Cripple Creek, hoping that it makes a difference. I will keep returning to the Butte, for sure.

I have been to many melodramas over the years and at least one a year in cripple creek. This one today was perhaps the worst one ever. The sound system was not well adjusted and the young girl singing the opening could not be understood since she was over powered by the piano. The actors frequently could not be understood which interfered with the story line. The story which was told in the ads frequently was not cohesive with the story on the stage. Again the sound system and the piano were pivotal to the inability to follow the story. It was so bad that we left at the intermission to stay any longer would have been torture

The Valentines Day show, written and performed by local folks in the Cripple Creek area, was impressive, thought provoking, and fun. So many volunteers worked together to create this show! The intermission treats were a very nice touch. Way too little advertising meant that many who woud have enjoyed it were not aware of the opportunity. Those who attended are fortunate on many levels. Those who wrote, performed, and prepared for the show as volunteers accomplished something unique together....and that is the best result of community theater.
